WILTON  G.  HIX

NEWVILLE. . .Wilton G. Hix, a resident of the Oakey Grove Community of Henry County, died Wednesday morning, November 16, 2011, at his home. He was 87.

           

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P. M. Friday, November 18, 2011, in the Oakey Grove Baptist Church with Reverend Don Adams officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Masonic rites will be conducted at the graveside.  Holman-Abbeville Mortuary is in charge of funeral arrangements. The family will receive friends from 1:00 until 2:00 P. M. Friday in the church sanctuary.

           

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Henry County Veterans Memorial Park, P.O. Box 23, Abbeville, AL. 36310.

           

Mr. Hix was born and reared in Henry County, son of the late Jim Hix and Gertrude Arnold Hix. He served his country in the U. S. Navy during World War II. Mr. Hix lived in the Oakey Grove community most of his adult lifetime where he was a member of the Oakey Grove Baptist Church. Mr. Hix was also a member of the Brown’s Crossroads Masonic Lodge No. 529. He was a retired employee of WestPoint Stevens. Mr. Hix was preceded in death by his wife, Odette Kay Hix, a son, Ronnie Hix, a sister, Myrtle Welcher and two brothers, Earl Hix and Jim.

           

Surviving relatives include a son, Jimmy L. Hix and wife, Connie, Newville; a former daughter in law, Felicia Hilyer, Abbeville; five grandchildren, Ronnie Hix and wife, Maria, Tony Hix and wife, Melissa, Roxanna Faulk and husband, Craig, Misty Hancock and husband, Leland, Jim Hix and wife, Sandy; nine great-grandchildren.

           

Serving as active and honorary pallbearers will be the masons.
