Winnie Loraine Thomas Creel Hall
Winnie Loraine Thomas Creel Hall, a resident of Extendicare in Dothan went to her Heavenly home on March 16, 2017. She was 95 years old.
Visitation will be at Ward Wilson on Sunday, March 20, 2017 at 2:00 with graveside services to follow at Clark Cemetery on Brannon Stand Road.
Loraine was born in Slocomb, Alabama April 29, 1921, the daughter of John Wesley Thomas and Ora Lee Greer Thomas. She was preceded in death by her six older siblings; John L. Thomas, Benjamin Thomas, Cletus Thomas, Clara T. Phillips, Leila T. Myler.
Loraine Creel Hall was preceded in death by her first husband M.A. Creel of 53 years and Carl J. Hall of 10 years and a great-great grand-daughter. She is survived by her children Dr. A. Wayne Creel, Janet Creel Dulaney, (David Dulaney), John Thomas Creel. Grand-children, Denise Blitzes (Jim), Andrea Creel, Diana Sellers -(Bruce) Dr. D. Paul Dulaney - (Jennifer), Lorri Blackmon Stokes - (David). Loraine was blessed with 5 generations which include 12 great grandchildren and 6 great-great grandchildren.
Loraine had a very active life as a home-maker, Charter Member of the Mother’s Club, a Retired Senior Volunteer, and she attended a School of Nursing Program. She was also employed by the Dothan Eagle for 20 years.
As a young mother and member of First Baptist Church in Dothan, she loved working with the Wednesday night activities such as decorating tables, serving meals and organizing events. While a member of the Community Church in Sandestin, Florida she and Mr. Carl promoted the building program. Although her health did not allow physical involvement, she enjoyed the fellowship and visits she received from her church family at Mt. Gilead upon returning to Dothan.
A special thank you to her nurses and especially to the CNA’s who took care of her over these past 9 years and also to Kindred Hospice Care this week.
Serving as active pallbearers will be Dr. Paul Dulaney, Nicholas Dulaney, Bruce Sellers, and Benjamin Sellers.
