Wynel Warren Whittaker died Tuesday, December 18, 2012 at her home at the age of 86. She was born July 29, 1926 in Enterprise, Alabama to Lucile Harrison Warren and William Marion Warren. She was a graduate of Coffee County High School and attended Huntington College in Montgomery, Alabama. She was a lifetime member of First United Methodist Church in Enterprise.
She was preceded in death by her husband Clyde Whittaker and her parents Lucile and Will Warren.
She is survived by her daughter, Melinda Farrell (Jim) of Anniston, Alabama; sons, Richard Whittaker (Suzanna) of Enterprise, Alabama and Burns Whittaker (Jo) of Montgomery, Alabama; Grandsons: Warren Whittaker (Melissa) of Tallahassee, Florida, Allen Whittaker (Rachel) of Atlanta, Georgia; Arron Whittaker (Sarah) of Huntersville, North Carolina; Will Whittaker (Deanna) of Carrollton, Georgia; Daniel Whittaker of Raleigh, North Carolina; Whitt Steineker (Cameron) of Birmingham, Alabama and Clay Steineker of Birmingham, Alabama; and granddaughter, Julie Whittaker Henthorne (P.J.) of Auburn, Alabama; nine great-grandchildren: Trey, Ansley, Jon Thomas, Tyler, Andrew and Anna Ross Whittaker, Sarah Atchley and Caroline Henthorne and Harrison Steineker; one brother, Billy Warren (Sheila) and two nephews: Harrison and Forrest Warren.
The family wishes to express their appreciation to Annie Jones, Betty Simmons and Mattie Caphart for the care they gave to Wynel during her extended illness.
Funeral services will be Friday, December 21st at 11:30 a.m. at First United Methodist Church with Rev. Rob West officiating and Searcy Funeral Home directing. Burial will be at Meadowlawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends and family one hour before the services at the Church.
Memorials can be made to First United Methodist Church, Enterprise or to the American Cancer Society.
