CLIO…Mr. Billy Floyd Campbell, a resident of Clio, died Sunday morning, September 6, 2026, in a Dothan hospital. He was 80.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Friday, September 11, 2026, in Blue Springs Word of Truth Church, Clio with his brother-in-law, Reverend Tim Burgess and Reverend Clyde Hancock officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Fuqua Bankston Funeral Home of Ozark is in charge of arrangements. The family will receive friends from 5:00 until 7:00 P.M. Thursday at the funeral home.
Mr. Campbell, son of the late Floyd Campbell and Montez McDaniel Campbell, was a native and lifelong resident of Clio, a community he loved deeply and proudly called home throughout his life. He was a 1963 graduate of Clio High School, where he excelled in athletics and was known for his competitive spirit, determination, and natural athletic ability. Whether on the field, the court, or participating in school activities, he gave his best effort and developed friendships that would remain meaningful throughout the years.
Music was one of God’s greatest gifts in Mr. Campbell’s life, and he used that gift to bring joy, encouragement, and inspiration to others. In his younger years, he was a member of “The Rod Benders,” a popular rock band during the 1960s. He loved performing, sharing music with others, and creating memories that would be cherished for decades. As his faith deepened and became the center of his life, his musical talents found a new purpose. He later became a member of the gospel group “The Visionaires,” where he used his voice and love for music to share the message of God’s love and grace. Through countless songs and worship services, he touched the hearts of many and found great fulfillment in praising the Lord through music.
Mr. Campbell was employed with American Buildings in Eufaula for several years before later continuing his career with Carter Manufacturing in Ariton, where he worked as a welder until his retirement.
His greatest passion, however, was his faith in Jesus Christ. Mr. Campbell was a faithful and active member of Blue Springs Word of Truth Church, where he worshipped, served, and shared his many talents. As Music Director, he played a vital role in the church and was deeply committed to leading others in worship.
Outside of church, Mr. Campbell enjoyed many of life’s simple pleasures. He was a devoted University of Alabama football fan and rarely missed an opportunity to cheer on the Crimson Tide. Saturdays during football season often found him watching the game, celebrating victories, and sharing his enthusiasm with family and friends. Win or lose, his loyalty to Alabama never wavered.
While his loved ones mourn the loss of his earthly presence, they also find comfort in knowing that he has heard the words every faithful servant long to hear: “Well done, good and faithful servant.” His legacy of faith, music, hard work, and love for others will continue to inspire all who knew him. The songs he sang, the lives he touched, and the Christian example he lived will remain in the hearts of family and friends for years to come.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Campbell was preceded in death by his beloved grandson, Hunter German; his sister, Janice Chambers; and his brother, Mickey Campbell.
Surviving relatives include his wife of sixty-years, Linda Burgess Campbell, Clio; daughters, Tangela German (Jeff), Skipperville, Terilyn Woodham, Ozark, and Tamara Mann, Prattville; son, Todd Campbell (Robin), Ozark; sister, Gloria Bell, Clio; brothers, Charles Campbell, Tony Campbell, both of Clio, and Jerome Campbell, Ozark; grandchildren, Joshua German, Madison Williams (Chris), Chloe Wilson (Hunter), Bailey Mann, and Tucker Woodham; great-grandchildren, Adalyn Williams, Jase German, Navy Reeners, and Mason Reeners; sister-in-law, Dorothy Shehane and brother-in-law, Reverend Tim Burgess (Melissa), Ozark; nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Serving as active pallbearers will be Joshua German, Bailey Mann, Hunter Wilson, Tucker Woodham, Jeremy Campbell, Judson Campbell, Bobby English, and Matthew White.
