Mrs. Griggs, daughter of the late Sampie Wyatt Lee and Minnie Drew Lee, was a proud native of Dale County, growing up near Newton in a close‑knit community that shaped her gentle spirit and strong values. She graduated from Dale County High School in Ozark in 1950, a time she often remembered with fondness and gratitude for the friendships and lessons that stayed with her throughout her life.
She built a long and steady career rooted in dedication and service. She retired from Production Credit, now First South Farm Credit, after twenty years of loyal employment as a secretary. Before that, she worked with Phillips Insurance Agency, Dale Medical Center, and Southeast Gas, all in Ozark. No matter where she worked, she was known for her kindness, her dependability, and the way she treated everyone with respect.
Her faith was a guiding part of her life. She was a devoted member of Ozark First Assembly of God Church, where she poured her heart into serving others. She taught the Fourth Grade Sunday school class, sang in the choir, and served as class secretary in Sunday school. She loved her church family deeply and found great joy in being part of a community that worshiped, learned, and grew together.
Family meant everything to her. She was preceded in death by her husband, Archie O’Brian Griggs, whom she loved dearly, and by her three sisters, Merle Armstrong, Miriam Lee, and Christine Hebb. Their memories remained close to her heart, and she carried their love with her throughout her life.
Mrs. Griggs will be remembered for her gentle nature, her unwavering faith, and the quiet strength she showed in the way she lived each day. She touched many lives through her work, her church, and her friendships, and her legacy of kindness will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
