Mr. Olen Lamar Brooks of Samson, AL passed away on Tuesday, September 09, 2025. He was 88.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, September 12, 2025, from the chapel of Warren Holloway Ward Funeral home in Geneva, AL with Rev. Bruce Williams officiating. Burial will follow at Meadowlawn Memorial Park Cemetery in Enterprise, AL with Warren Holloway Ward Funeral Home of Geneva directing. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday beginning at 10:00 a.m.

Lamar was born in Geneva Co., AL on December 25, 1936, to the late Bryant Cleveland and Lillian Ward Brooks. He was raised in the Mt. Carmel community and was a 1954 graduate of Samson High School. In 1955, he married Peggy Day and moved to Enterprise, AL, where they worked and attended Park Avenue Baptist Church. It was there that he was ordained as a deacon, served as Sunday School Director, taught Sunday School and drove the church bus. After moving back to Mt. Carmel Baptist Church, he continued to serve as deacon, Sunday School teacher and director. Lamar served six years on the Alabama State Board of Missions, six years as a Gideon in the Geneva County Association and three years as executive on the grounds committee of the Sardis Baptist Association. He served in the Alabama National Guard for six years in Samson and Enterprise, combined.  He was a faithful member of Goodman Baptist Church.

Lamar is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 70 years, Peggy Day Brooks of Samson, AL; two sons, Keith Olen Brooks (Patricia) of McKinney, TX and Kevin Lamar Brooks (Emily) of Cleveland, GA; four grandchildren, Brandon Brooks of McKinney, TX, Matthew Brooks (Caitlin) of Argyle, TX, Chelsea Brooks Thomas (Kyle) of Murrayville, GA and Elijah Brooks of Cleveland, GA; six great grandchildren, Maddie Brooks, Brody Brooks, Cole Brooks, Maggie Thomas, Adalyn Thomas, Henry Thomas and a host of friends, extended family and church family.
