Onis Tew Smith, age 91, of Dothan, Alabama, passed away peacefully on January 30, 2026, at Wesley Place on Honeysuckle.
Born July 29, 1934, in Geneva County to the late Clarence and Ida Tew, she lived a life defined by devotion to her family and a gentle, loving spirit.
Mrs. Smith cherished quiet moments with a good book and treasured time spent with her beloved family. Her warmth and kindness touched the lives of all who knew her, and her legacy of love will continue through the generations she leaves behind.
She was preceded in death by her devoted husband, Angus Smith; her daughter, Linda Culverhouse; son-in-law, Jim Culverhouse; and her siblings, Mozelle Kent, Flora Dell Roach, Gladys Chavis, Grover Tew, Clinton Tew, and Clifton Tew.
Mrs. Smith is survived by her brother, Grady Tew; her children, Sharon (Terry) Cunningham and Gary (Charlene) Smith; seven grandchildren: Jonathan (Angela) Deal, Jason Deal, Emily Smith, David (Jessica) Culverhouse, Amanda Smith, Lindsey (Johnny) Andrews, and Ryan (Ashley) Cunningham; ten great-grandchildren: Christopher (Zoe) Casteel, Michael Barrett, Aden Phillips, Sawyer Andrews, James Culverhouse, Hannah Deal, Courtney Cunningham, Penelope Deal, Cameron Andrews, and Enzo Cunningham; and three great-great-grandchildren: Emersyn Casteel, Byron Casteel, and Branson Casteel.
Visitation will be held at Ward Wilson Funeral Home on Sunday, February 1, 2026, at 12:00 PM, with graveside services immediately following at 1:00 PM.
