
Mrs. Penny J. Belcher of Dothan passed away Sunday, May 18, 2025 at the age of 83.
Penny was born August 12, 1941 in Columbus, Georgia to the late John J. and Lucile Kingry Belcher. She was a faithful member of Rainbow Meadows Baptist Church. She taught third grade for over 25 years at Rehobeth Elementary, where her students knew her fondly as Mrs. Floyd at that time. A lover of southern gospel quartet music, bowling, Atlanta Braves baseball, and college basketball, she also enjoyed embroidery and crochet, and made many handmade gifts for friends and family with love. Penny was a loving mother, grandmother, and great grandmother, whose presence will be sorely missed by all those who loved her. Most importantly, she loved her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, and she rests with Him eternally now free of pain and suffering.
She was preceded in death by her sister Paula Belcher Pendergrass.
Survivors include her daughter Carla Leonard (Jeff) of Dothan, and son Johnathan Garrett of Dothan; grandsons Ben Jarrell of Nashville, TN, Dylan Jarrell of Dothan, and Daniel Leonard (Taylor) of Mobile, AL; great granddaughters Dorothy Jarrell and Leia Jarrell, both of Prescott, Michigan; great grandsons Killian Leonard and Ryland Leonard, both of Mobile, AL; special
nieces Kim Brown of Dothan, and Shannon Chaney of Oakland City, Indiana, and her family.
Funeral services will be held at 2 P.M. Thursday, May 22, 2025 at Ward Wilson Funeral Home with Reverend Don Clark officiating. Burial will follow in Memory Hill Cemetery with Ward Wilson Funeral Home directing
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 1 to 2 P.M. Thursday, one hour prior to the service.
