Posie was born in Holmes County, Florida on May 07, 1937, to late Charlie C. and Emma Lee Smith Vaughan. He was a loving and devoted father and grandfather, who enjoyed spending time with his family. He enjoyed the outdoors and working in his flower garden, raising chickens, watching the birds feed and just being in nature. He was an avid basketball fan, who earned the title of Holmes Co. “Super Fan” and was awarded a plaque in his honor in 2023. He proudly attended and supported his alumni, wholeheartedly. He was a faithful member of New Hope Baptist Church.
Posie Vaughan was a good man-the kind of innate goodness which many people will spend their lives trying to imitate without ever achieving it. He never stopped being a teacher, but rather than imparting words of wisdom, he lived them, both in how he viewed the world and treated the people around him. There is no doubt that his absence will echo through many, many people, as he never met a stranger and always offered kindness even to those that will never pay it back.
In addition to his parents, Posie was preceded in death by two brothers, James Lee Vaughan and Johnny C. Vaughan; four sisters, Charlene Hawthorne, Ruth Forsythe, Cumi Vaughan and Eudene Hughes.
Posie is survived by two daughters; Kim Lee (Don), Westville, FL and Emmy Mosser (Jason), Bonifay, FL; four granddaughters, Ciara Lee, Westville, FL, Kiannah Mosser, Jayden Mosser and Lorelei Mosser, all of Bonifay, FL; one sister, Rachel Heath, Cantonment, FL and a number of nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family and friends.
