Remer Estuss Braswell

Mr. Remer Estuss Braswell was born at home in Emanuel County, Georgia, on June 13, 1936, to Fannie Lee Love Braswell and Lois Lee Braswell. His life was marked by a deep love for God, devotion to his family, and a steadfast commitment to serving others.

Mr. Braswell proudly served his country in the United States Air Force, serving from 1955 to 1959 and again from 1978 to 1996 and attaining the rank of Master Sergeant. After 22 years of military service, he retired from the Air Force. His career included assignments at Eglin Air Force Base and S. Hall Air National Guard Station in Dothan, Alabama, as well as service connected with Desert Shield and Desert Storm. He later also retired from Civil Service of 30 years at Fort Rucker, continuing a lifetime defined by duty, hard work, and service to his country and community.

His military career also reflected a lifelong dedication to learning and excellence. He completed extensive technical, electronics, radar, communications, supervisory, and leadership training, culminating in attendance at the Command Noncommissioned Officer Academy in 1991. He brought the same discipline, dependability, and quiet strength that defined his service into every part of his life.

When he was not working or serving others, Mr. Braswell loved fishing and spending time outdoors. He was also known throughout the neighborhood as the one to call when something needed fixing. To those who knew him, there seemed to be nothing he could not repair. Whether it was household handiwork, electronics, a car, or almost anything in between, he had the knowledge, patience, and determination to figure it out. More importantly, he never hesitated to use those gifts to help someone else. If a neighbor, friend, or family member needed him, he would be there in a second, ready to lend a hand and expecting nothing in return. He truly was the neighborhood’s “Mr. Fix-It,” and his generous spirit made an impression on everyone fortunate enough to know him.

Above all, Mr. Braswell was a godly man whose faith was an important foundation of his life. He sought to live with humility, integrity, kindness, and love. His family will remember not only what he accomplished, but the example he set: to work faithfully, love deeply, serve willingly, and place trust in God. His legacy lives on in the lives he touched and in the values he passed down to those who loved him.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his beloved wife of 60 years, JoAnn McKnight Braswell; his brothers, Jimmy Braswell, Johnny Braswell, and Billy Herman Braswell; and his sisters, Mary Elizabeth Barwick, Glenda Faye Moxley, and Carolyn Hughes Way.

He is survived by his son, Russell (Cindy) Braswell of Birmingham, Alabama; daughter, Rena (Charles) Miller of Dothan, Alabama; brother, Donald Lee (Lisa) Braswell of Laurens, South Carolina; and sisters, Sandra K. Whitfield of Twin City, Georgia, and Linda Gail Rowland of Swainsboro, Georgia.

Mr. Braswell had 4 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends who will cherish his memory.

Though he will be deeply missed, his family gives thanks for the blessing of his life and for the example he leaves behind. He was a man who loved his family, served his country faithfully, worked with his hands, helped his neighbors, enjoyed the simple peace of fishing and the outdoors, and sought to walk with God. He leaves behind more than a record of accomplishments; he leaves countless memories of a man who showed up when people needed him, who could seemingly fix anything, and whose faith, strength, generosity, and love will remain a treasured part of his legacy for generations to come.

Graveside services will be held at 1 PM Sunday, August 30, 2026 at Memory Hill Cemetery with Pastor Paul Edenfield officiating.
