BRANTLEY, ALABAMA. . .Rene Danford Herring, a resident of Brantley, Alabama, went to be with her Lord and Savior, Saturday, March 8, 2025, at her home. She was 99.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Tuesday, March 11, 2025, in the Holman-Headland Mortuary Chapel with Reverend Travis Johnson and Reverend Mark Perry officiating. Burial will follow in the Blackwood Cemetery, near Headland. The family will receive friends from 10:00 until 11:00 A.M. Tuesday at the mortuary chapel Headland.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Mt. Zion Baptist Church, P.O. Box 33, Brantley, AL 36009.
Ms. Herring was born in Midland City, Alabama, daughter of the late Allen Andrew Danford, Sr. and Myrle Dick Danford. She lived in the Tolbert Church community of Henry County many years before moving to Brantley in 1992. Ms. Herring was a member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church. She was formerly employed by WestPoint Stevens in Abbeville. Ms. Herring was preceded in death by three sisters, Fauviette Thompson, Hazel Reagan and Betty Jo Golden and two brothers, C. L. Danford and Randall Danford, a grandson, Reggie Claar, and sons-in-law, George Pearman and Arthur Wilson.
Surviving relatives include three daughters, Geraldine Pearman and Margie Johnson (Reverend Travis), all of Brantley; and Vicki Wilson, Dallas, Texas; a son, Nolan Herring (Jaime), Troy, AL; two sisters, Faye Bruner and Ouida Schulman, both of Dothan; a brother, Allen A. Danford, Jr., Panama City, Florida; grandchildren, Casey Wood (Samantha), Denise Pearce (David), Ricky Johnson, Todd Johnson (Rhonda), Sharee Bloodworth (Scott), and Shea Pressley; ten great-grandchildren and nine great-great-grandchildren.
