Reports indicate both Winn-Dixie stores will close in July to be turned into Aldi stores.
Employees at both locations said they’d close in late July and would stay closed for a couple of months to remodel into Aldi.
Employees at both locations are reportedly unsure if they’ll be fired or kept on as Aldi employees.
Winn-Dixie’s press team did not immediately respond for comment.
3:09 P.M. UPDATE:
The press team at Southeast Grocers responded with this statement:
“Yes, the Winn-Dixie stores located at 1571 Westgate Parkway and 1151 Ross Clark Circle in Dothan will close in late July to convert to new ALDI stores. We recognize the impact this decision has on our associates, and SEG has worked diligently with ALDI to provide support and available opportunities to each associate, including having the first opportunity to apply to roles at newly converted ALDI stores or receiving severance if eligible.
Winn-Dixie has proudly served the Dothan community over the years, and we will work through this process with care. We are grateful for the support and understanding of our valued associates, customers and communities.”
