Rex Maurice Johnson, Sr., a resident of Georgetown, Georgia, passed away Saturday, June 13, 2026, at Encompass Health Rehabilitation Hospital in Dothan, Alabama. He was 96 years old.
Graveside services will be held Tuesday, June 16, 2026, at 11:30 a.m. CST in the Georgetown Cemetery with Rev. Jeff Hines officiating and Glover Funeral Home of Eufaula directing. Flowers will be accepted.
Rex was born on November 17, 1929, in TyTy, Georgia to the late Dewey and Ruby Lee (Swain) Johnson. He was a veteran of the United States Army where he served for 14 ½ years. After his service, Rex worked in construction industry, building golf courses. In his spare time, he loved hunting and fishing.
He is preceded in death by his parents.
Survivors include his loving wife, Loveta Jean (Fowler) Johnson; son, Rex Johnson, Jr. of Gadsden, Alabama; four daughters, Theresa Butler of Tifton, Georgia, Dona Barrett (Mike) of TyTy, Georgia, Melinda Battell (Sammy) of Athens, Georgia, and Leslie Weeks (Jason) of Georgetown, Georgia; sister, Bonita Pitts of TyTy, Georgia; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
