SHORTERVILLE. . .Ricky Allen Lane, a resident of Shorterville, passed away early Saturday morning, September 26, 2026, at his home. He was 68.
A memorial visitation will be held at a later date at Holman-Abbeville Mortuary. Holman-Abbeville Mortuary & Cremations will be in charge of arrangements.
Ricky Lane was born in Knoxville, Tennessee and raised in Strawberry Plains, TN and Shorterville, AL. He lived in Henry County, near Shorterville, most of his lifetime. Ricky was employed by Jerry Blount Trucking Company as a mechanic in agriculture and trucking until his health failed. Ricky was a very good mechanic and considered a “Jack of All Trades”. He enjoyed playing pool, riding motorcycles, and was an avid University of Tennessee football fan. He was a member of the Alabama Highwaymen Motor Cycle Club. Ricky was preceded in death by his father, Joe Marshall Lane, his mother, Margaret Elizabeth Spires Lane, his step-mother who raised him, Lerenda Blair Lane, a sister, Clara Tarwater, and brothers, Joe Marshall Lane II, Oscar Lee Lane and Lynn David Lane.
Surviving relatives include his wife, Mae Williams Lane; daughters, Dixie Lane-Marsh (Charles), Abbeville and Crystal Lane (Leroy Steffensmeier), Pensacola, FL; a sister, Janie Harper, Crawfordville, FL; grandchildren, Lillie Marsh, Gabriel Marsh, Joe Steffensmeier and Allyssa Steffensmeier; numerous nieces and nephews.
