Ricky Brooks, who was born on March 22, 1951, in Alabama and passed away on September 28, 2026, in Dothan, Alabama, lived a life marked by love, faith, and steady devotion to the people and values he held dear.
Funeral services will be held at 2 P.M. Saturday, October 3, 2026, at Ward Wilson Funeral Home with Dr. Cecil Sanders officiating. Burial will follow in Memory Hill Cemetery with Ward Wilson Funeral Home directing.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 1 to 2 on Saturday, October 3, 2026, one hour prior to the service.
Flowers will be accepted or donations may be made to the Walk to Emmaus Program, 621 County Rd. 79, Headland , Al 36345.
Serving as pallbearers will be David Butterfield, Mark Butterfield, Tommy Morris, Jonas Brooks, Travis Brooks, Paul Segars, and Harnage Elliott.
He will be remembered as a loving father, brother, and uncle, and as a man whose presence brought comfort and strength to those around him. He was hard working throughout his life and dedicated many years of service to the Fluor Corporation, where he gave his time and energy with commitment and pride.
Ricky loved the Lord and remained faithful in his walk of faith. He understood that this life was temporary and believed with confidence that his ultimate home was with the Lord. That conviction shaped the way he lived, and it was evident in the kindness, humility, and purpose he carried each day. He also devoted time and energy to the Walk to Emmaus Program, where he shared in fellowship and service that reflected his deep spiritual commitment.
He found joy in the simple and meaningful things in life. He spent his leisure time building his pecan orchard and took pleasure in being close to nature. He especially enjoyed freshwater fishing, an activity that gave him peace and allowed him to appreciate the beauty of the outdoors.
Ricky was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas Junior and Anges Pauline Brooks, his sister, Marilyn Morris, and his nephew, Ben Morris. He is survived by his son, Ricky J. Brooks; his sister, Brenda Butterfield; his brothers, Tom Brooks and Mike Brooks; and several nieces and nephews. His family will cherish his memory and the many ways he showed love, loyalty, and care throughout his life.
Those who knew Ricky will remember him as a loving and faith-filled man whose life was a testimony to perseverance, devotion, and trust in God. His legacy will live on in the hearts of his family and friends, and in the example he set through the way he lived each day. He will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by all who were blessed to know him.
