Robert “Bobby” Leon Smith, a cherished resident of Geneva, Alabama, passed away on Friday, October 10, 2025, at the age of 76.

Born in New Hanover, South Carolina, on October 27, 1948, to the late Dunnie Winders Smith and Marie Ann Burdeshaw, Bobby grew into a man of patriotism and principle. He honorably served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. Following his service, he dedicated his career to his craft as a skilled lath and plaster professional.

While he was a master of his trade, Bobby’s true sanctuary was the water. He loved fishing of any kind, from the ocean to the lakes. Those who knew him best know he was never calmer or happier than when he had his fishing pole in the water, his beloved dog, Dexter, by his side, and a Budweiser in his hand.

He leaves behind a loving family to cherish his memory. He is survived by his children, Richard Sanders and Shannon Smith; his grandchildren, Dakota Sanders and Catana Jade Quick; and his great-granddaughters, Jewel Sanders and Isabelle Quick. He is also survived by his siblings, Leon Sellers (Nina), Dunnie Smith, and Susan; his stepmother, Ruth Smith; and many nieces and nephews, including David Sellers (Zahairah), Christopher Sellers (Shawn Wallace) and Bryan McQueen (Aaron).

The family extends special gratitude to his niece, Renae Spurlock, who provided devoted care and support when he needed it most.

Bobby is now reunited in eternal rest with those who passed before him, including his parents; his wives, Catana Jean Burdeshaw and Karen Milkin; and his siblings, Linda Meredith and William “Billy” Sellers.

Family and friends are invited to celebrate the life of Bobby Smith on Wednesday, October 15, 2025, at 3:00 PM. The service will take place at Warren-Holloway Funeral Home (2744 W. Magnolia Ave, Geneva, AL 36340), with Chaplin Adam officiating.
