Robert Gene McKinney passed away peacefully on September 10, 2025, in Geneva, Alabama.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 13, 2025, in the chapel of Warren Holloway Ward Funeral Home in Geneva with Rev. Brenda Jones officiating. Burial will follow in Sunset Memorial Gardens Cemetery with Warren Holloway Ward Funeral Home of Geneva directing. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday beginning at 1:00 p.m.
Robert was born in Walton County, Florida on December 10, 1941, to the late Jessie Dan and Virginia Josephine Ellison McKinney. In addition to his parent’s, he was preceded in death by four brothers, Thomas, Grady, Carlos and James Leon Mckinney; and one sister Gaynell Watson.
For 38 years, Robert was a dedicated employee at Reliable Metal Products, His loyalty to the company and his role there was a testament to his steadfast character. In addition to his professional career, Robert proudly served his country as a member of the National Guard.
Robert’s devotion extended beyond his professional life into his spiritual journey. A long-time attendee of Emmanuel Assembly of God Church, his faith was a cornerstone of his existence. He lived his beliefs through his actions, offering kindness and support to those around him. His involvement in the church community was not just a part of his routine but a significant aspect of his identity.
He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 61 years, Jennifer Ree Smith McKinney; two sons, Billy McKinney (Carol), and Jonathan McKinney (Tiffany); two granddaughters, Amy Roberts, and Angie Gonzalez (Tristen); two grandsons, Caden McKinney, and Ezra McKinney; two great granddaughters, Alaina and Colleen; one sister-in-law, Estrellia McKinney; and several nieces and nephews.
