ABBEVILLE. . .Robert Lamar Harpe, a resident of Abbeville, died Saturday night, March 15, 2025, in the Henry County Health & Rehabilitation Facility. He was 81.
Funeral services will be held at 3:00 P.M. Wednesday, March 19, 2025, in the Holman-Headland Mortuary Chapel with eulogies to be given by Paul Peterson and Jerry Brown. A private family burial will be held at a later date in the Abbeville Memorial Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2:00 until 3:00 P.M. Wednesday at the mortuary in Headland.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the First Baptist Church “Rebuild Fund”, P.O. Box 606, Abbeville, AL 36301.
Lamar Harpe was born and reared in Abbeville, son of the late Rubin Foy Harpe and Mary Stone Boatwright Harpe. He was a graduate of Abbeville High School. Lamar served his country in the Army National Guard and retired with rank of Staff Sergeant. He lived in Dothan before returning to Abbeville in 2022. Lamar was a member of Cornerstone Church. He was retired from Circle Pest Control. Lamar was preceded in death by his wife, Helen Harpe and a brother, Jackey T. Harpe.
Surviving relatives include three daughters, Julie Powell (Jim), Dothan; Wendy Blair, Headland; and Tina Overstreet (Jimmy), Dothan; a sister, Emma Rose Perry, Dothan; a sister-in-law, Cleta Harpe, Abbeville; grandchildren, Josh Blair, Dalton Spann, Matthew Powell, Brittany Smith (Skylar), Michael Powell, Mark Powell, Jason Overstreet, Jeremy Overstreet (Meagan), and Justin Overstreet; a great-grandchild, Carter Bedsole.
