Roland Walter Frary, of Samson, Alabama passed away on Wednesday, January 14, 2026, at the age of 89.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am Saturday, January 17, 2026, in the Chapel of Warren Holloway Ward Funeral Home, with Rev. Jimmy Eddins and Rev. Joel Snell officiating. Burial will follow in the Liberty Chapel Cemetery with Warren Holloway Ward directing. Visitation will be held from 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm on Friday, January 16, 2026, in the chapel of Warren Holloway Ward Funeral Home in Geneva, AL.
Roland was born June 24, 1936, in Jamestown, NY to the late Marion Wheaten and Florence Pauline Frary. He was a man with great respect for his loving wife—Peggy Monk Frary for 57 years. He was also a loving Father, Grandfather, Great Grandfather, and Friend. He was a member of Holloway Tabernacle Assembly of God, and truly loved his church family. Roland served His Country in the Navy from 1954-1969; Navy Reserve from 1971-1984; in May of 1984, he transferred to US Army Reserve to be closer to His family. He worked as a Helicopter Mechanic until he retired in 1996. For many years he was an Avid Runner. He acquired the Nickname, “Snuff City Roadrunner.” He ran in many, many 5k races across the state of Alabama and even some in Florida.
He is proceeded in death by his parents, his beloved wife, his brother Roger Eckland & sister Marcia Soto.
Survived by his daughters Terry Philips, Susan Jones (Bobby), Regina Henderson (Jeff) and his sons Randy Frary, Ryan Frary (Nikki); grandchildren; Chris Frary, Echo Olive (Josh) Amber Lyles (Joe), Justin Henderson, Haley Cooper (Zach), Lacee Frary and Alyssa Frary; greatgrandchildren; Lila, Carleigh, Cheyenne, Connor (the one he prayed for and God granted his Prayer), Bennet & one very special niece and her husband, Vicky and Bob Norris.
