Ronald Lee Brown, 78 of Dothan died Sunday, August 2, 2026, in Panama City, Florida under hospice care, following a short illness.
Memorial services will be held on Saturday, August 15, 2026, at 4:00 P.M. in the Holman – Headland Mortuary Chapel with Pastor Jeff Brewer officiating.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Children’s Ministry of Calvary Baptist Church, 310 Dothan Road, Abbeville, Alabama 36310.
Mr. Brown was born September 25, 1947 in Long Beach, California to the late Rudyard and Chloe Brown. He attended high school at Long Beach Poly and later joined the U. S. Navy. Mr. Brown moved to Dothan in 1971 and worked as a lineman for GTE. However, the majority of his career was working as a finish carpenter, where he took pride in his work. Mr. Brown was an avid fisherman and hunter and was a member of several fishing and hunting clubs. He also enjoyed watching sports of any type, especially Alabama Crimson Tide football. Mr. Brown was a member of the Rehobeth Baptist Church in Rehobeth, but attended Calvary Baptist Church in Abbeville where he was a member of the Adult Men’s I Sunday School Class. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Dorothy Joyce Blissett Brown who died on June 11, 2022.
Survivors include: a son Ronald Lee Brown, Jr. (Nan), Abbeville; a daughter Victoria Brown, Abbeville; a sister, Cindy Hunsaker (Moe), Ridgecrest, California; grandchildren: Hayden Ezell, Shelby Brown, Colin Brown, Mathew Brown, James M. Fornan, Jr,; and a great grandchild Cooper R. Brown. Survivors from the Blissett family include Mary and Eddie Dodd, Jimmy and Margaret Blissett, and Johnny and Patty Blissett. Numerous nieces and nephews also survive.
