Ronnie Gene Childree

Ronnie Gene Childree, 82, a life-long resident of Houston County, passed away on Thursday, August 13, 2026, at his residence following an extended illness.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, August 15, 2026, at Glover Funeral Home with Brother Bobby Elliott officiating. Burial will follow in Memory Hill Cemetery with Glover Funeral Home of Dothan directing. The family will receive friends from 9:00 until 9:45 a.m., prior to the services.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the, Ronald McDonald House Alabama, 1700 4^th Ave South, Birmingham, AL 35233, or Taylor Baptist Church, 4156 Taylor Road, Taylor, AL 36301.

Ronnie was born June 3, 1944, in Dothan to the late R.D. & Mary Bell (Lamb) Childree. He spent his life in Houston County and was a graduate of Rehobeth High School and then attended Troy State University. Following college, he began working for Coca-Cola for 20 years as a Sales Route Manger. He then worked as a groundskeeper for Troy University-Dothan for 11 years. He was longtime member and deacon of Taylor Baptist Church.

He is preceded in death by his parents; his brothers, Billy Childree, and Bobby Childree.

He is survived by his wife of almost 60 years, Sarah Childree; his son, David Childree (Tamela); his daughter, Sharon Boyett (Danny); his seven grandchildren, Jessica Collins (Zo), Kaylee Walls (Justin), Timothy Myers (Kristen), David Myers (Heather), Wesley Grubbs (Shealee), Jerrad Creel (Miranda), and Anna Creel; his brother, James Lamb; and several great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.

Serving as pallbearers will be David Childree, Jerrad Creel, Timothy Myers, David Myers, George Caldwell, and Donnie Cobb.

The family would like to express their gratitude to the nurses and staff of Enhabit Hospice and Caregivers shown to their loved one during this very difficult time.
