ABBEVILLE. . .Samuel Lawrence “Teto” Rogers, a resident of Abbeville, passed away Wednesday afternoon, October 7, 2026, in a Dothan hospital. He was 86.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Friday, October 9, 2026, in the Union Free Will Baptist Church with Reverend Joey Hudspeth officiating. The family will receive friends from 10:00 until 11:00 A.M. Friday in the church sanctuary. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Holman-Abbeville Mortuary & Cremations is in charge of arrangements.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Union Free Will Baptist Church, c/o Carol Johns, 800 County Road 28, Abbeville, AL 36310.

Mr. Rogers was born and raised in Henry County, son of the late David Jefferson Rogers and Mary Alice Clenney Rogers. He lived in the Wills Crossroads community most of his adult lifetime. Mr. Rogers was a member of Union Free Will Baptist Church. He was retired as the owner and operator of Roger’s Garage in Abbeville. In earlier years, Mr. Rogers was employed as a Diesel Mechanic with Tillis Land & Timber Company. He was preceded in death by a son, Charles Edward Rogers and a brother, Todd Rogers.

Surviving relatives include his wife, Mary Lucy Starling Rogers; a son, Roy Lawrence Rogers (Faye), a sister, Dean Strickland, and a brother, Rodney Rogers (Faye), all of Abbeville; grandchildren, Amanda Gamble (Drew), Samuel Rogers (Olivia), and Andrew Rogers (Talina); several great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

Serving as active pallbearers will be Harold Robison, Randy Ketchum, Mike Paschal, Justin Paschal, Dan Kilpatrick and Stacy Starling.
