Sara Ann Carlisle Hodges went to be with her Lord and Savior on April 18, 2025, in
Graceville, Florida. She was 77 years old. Sara was born May 25, 1947 in Birmingham,
Alabama to the late Whatley and Christine Carlisle, Jr. She was the oldest of 3
daughters. When Sara was a young girl, the Carlisle family moved to Dothan and
became active members of Calvary Baptist Church. Sara was a member of the 1965
graduating class of Dothan High School and went on to pursue a degree in accounting.
Throughout her career, she held multiple positions as accounts payable clerk and was a
member of the American Women’s Business Association.

As a single parent, Sara was devoted to her two children, Cindy and Richard. To help
provide for them, she sometimes worked two or three jobs. During this time, she and her
children attended Mt. Gilead Baptist Church. For the past 30 years, she attended
Pleasant Plains Baptist Church, where she was an active member of the Bertha-Joy
Sunday School Class. Sara enjoyed supporting various mission projects, including
Operation Christmas Child, Samaritan’s Purse and of course, VBS. Her heart was big
and her commitment to helping others is a living testimony to how she hoped others
would choose to live day by day.
Sara is preceded in death by her beloved parents, her precious husband, Billy
Hodges, her sister, Jan Carlisle Nall, and her grandson, Cody Jenkins. She is survived
by her daughter, Cynthia Kelly (Brian Knotts) and son, Richard Jenkins (Jamie), her
sister, Christa Carlisle Moseley (Kenneth),and stepson, Hugh Hodges. She is also
survived by her grandchildren whom she loved very much, Chase, Jade (Nate
Ammons), Gracie, Morgan, and Patrick, and her great granddaughter Alora.The celebration of her life will be May 3, at Pleasant Plains Baptist Church on the corner
of Henry County 22 and 55. Visitation will be at 10:00 and the service will be at 11:00.
