Sara Truett Woodham, age 93 died on Sunday, March 16, 2025 at home.
Graveside services will be held at 1:00 pm on Wednesday, March 19, 2025 at Memory Hill Cemetery with Pastor Kyle Gatlin presiding.
Ms. Woodham was born on March 20, 1931 in Montgomery to Z.C. and Lucy Thomley Truett. She married William F. Woodham in 1953. He died in 1995. She spent most of her life in Montgomery until moving to Dothan in 1969.
Ms. Woodham graduated from Sidney Lanier High School in 1948, received a Bachelor of Arts degree from Huntington College in 1952, and a Masters of Science degree from Troy State University in 1968.
She taught in the public schools of Alabama for thirty-five years; one year at Lowndes County, fourteen years at Montgomery County, and twenty years at Dothan City Schools.
Ms. Woodham was a member of Northside Methodist Church, where she taught Sunday School for many years. In earlier years she had also served on the Board of Stewards and the School Board of Northside Methodist Academy.
Ms. Woodham was preceded in death by her parents; husband; brother, David K. Truett, and sister, Evelyn T. Poulos.
Suvivors include her son, William ‘Bill’ F. Woodham Jr. ; two daughters, Tricia Woodham Watson (Chris) of North Augusta, SC and Beth Barber, Panama City Beach, FL; one great granddaughter, Lily Barber.
