Scott Harold “Gordy” Owens, 62, of Samson, Alabama, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, July 21, 2026, surrounded by the love of his family after a courageous battle with ALS.
Born on March 11, 1964, Scott lived a life full of laughter, hard work, and unwavering love for his family and friends. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Gena Owens.
Left to cherish his memory are his parents, Harold and Mildred Owens; his sister, Sharon Jenkins (Jack); his daughter, Bailey Mock (Dylan); his stepson, Ryan Tice (Jennifer); his cherished grandchildren, Owen Mock, Mason Mock, Russell Joiner, Wilder Tice, Wells Tice, and Emma Tice; his nephews, Drew Welch (Whitney), Daven Weeks (Lindsey), and Jakin Kirkland; along with numerous great-nieces, great-nephews, extended family members, and countless friends.
Scott worked as an electrician for more than 30 years and was truly a jack of all trades. There wasn’t much he couldn’t fix, build, or figure out. He was one of a kind—known for his infectious smile, outgoing personality, quick wit, and incredible sense of humor. Scott never met a stranger and had a way of making everyone around him feel like an old friend.
His greatest joy was spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. Whether he was mullet fishing, working on another project, or simply enjoying the outdoors, Scott was happiest when he was surrounded by the people he loved. No matter where he was, he knew how to have a good time and leave others smiling.
Although our hearts are broken, we find peace in knowing Scott is no longer suffering. He is whole again, reunited with his beloved Gena and forever free in the presence of his Heavenly Father. His legacy of love, laughter, kindness, and hard work will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, July 24, 2026, in the chapel of Warren Holloway Ward Funeral Home in Geneva, Alabama, with Dustin Wise officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday beginning at 10:00 a.m.
