Shannon Tanner, 54, of Enterprise passed away Monday, August 11, 2025, at Southeast Health.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM, Friday, August 15, 2025 at Searcy Funeral Home and Crematory with Dr. Michael Mynatt officiating. Burial will follow in Meadowlawn Cemetery with Searcy Funeral Home & Crematory Directing. The family will receive friends from 10:00 AM until service time. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.

Shannon was a devoted member of the Hillcrest Baptist Church and a beloved member of the community, a man of strong faith and unwavering values, Shannon loved his church family dearly. His life was firmly rooted in his devotion to God, family, and community, always putting those priorities first, closely followed by his passion for Alabama football, Roll Tide.

Shannon graduated from Enterprise High School in 1989 and went on to build a successful career at Fort Rucker, where he faithfully served for 26 years. Outside of work, he enjoyed spending time outdoors, especially fishing, and was well-known and respected as a high school football official.

He was preceded in death by his father Merrell Tanner and brother Jimmy Austin.

Survivors include his wife of 19 years Amber Tanner; daughter, Emma Tanner, Enterprise, AL; son, Tyler Tanner, Enterprise, AL; mother, Sally Tanner, Enterprise, AL; brother, Keith Austin (Lori), Lynn Haven, FL; nephew, Brandon Austin, Dothan, AL; sister-in-law, Kristy Austin, Coral Springs, FL; nephew, Trevor Austin, Coral Springs, FL; mother and father-in-law, Robbie and Patty Nix; sister-in-law, and Zoe Rogers (Zane), Crawfordville, FL; brother-in-law, Elijah Nix (Makenna), Tallahassee, FL; along with several aunts and uncles.

Serving as pallbearers will be Brandon Austin, Yancy Shaver, Josh Hackett, Mark Taylor, David Luckett, Billy Hadden.
