Obituary from Holman Funeral Home of Ozark – Ozark, Alabama
Sharon Kaye Conder Mortz, a resident of Dothan, died at home Monday, July 6, 2026, following an extended illness. She was 80 years old.
In keeping with the wishes of her family, there are no public services planned for Mrs. Mortz. Holman Funeral Home of Ozark has been entrusted with the arrangements.
Sharon was born on May 15, 1946 in Ottumwa, Iowa, where she grew up on a farm raising cattle and horses and her heart has always been with her horses. She loved training and the rodeo. Sharon was also very much into her coonhounds and won the world title in show. Sharon also spent many years as a long-haul truck driver.
She leaves behind a son, Justin Gilchrist and his wife Melissa. She also leaves behind two grandchildren, Christopher Gilchrist and Nicholas Gilchrist; two great grandchildren, Brooklyn Gilchrist and Lainey Gilchrist. She is preceded in death by her father, Teddy Conder Sr.; her mother, Fern Wilkins; two brothers, Teddy Conder Jr. and John Stewart; and one sister, Mary Conder.
The family will always remember her smiles and her pride that she had when working with her horses and dogs. We pray that she finds her favorite boy TJ and he carries her through those beautiful gates.
