Sheila was born to the late Ralph and Elaine Lamarr Cullifer Holmes and was a proud graduate of the Ponce de Leon High School Class of 1977. She never lost her Pirate pride and carried the values of her upbringing with her throughout her life. From an early age, she demonstrated a heart for ministry and a desire to encourage those around her. At the age of 21, she began serving in the ministry, and that calling remained a central part of her life for many years.
Sheila shared her singing ministry with her husband, Paul, through the Clark Family until his passing in 2006. Together, they touched many lives through song and worship. She continued to serve faithfully in the years that followed, using her voice and her spirit to bless others. She served as a youth leader, Sunday School teacher, and praise singer at First United Pentecostal Church in Geneva, Alabama. In later years, she also served on the praise team at Calvary United in Crestview, where she continued to lift hearts through worship and praise.
In addition to her ministry, Sheila worked as a CNA and dearly loved caring for her patients. She approached her work with kindness, patience, and a genuine servant’s heart. She was known for always helping others and for being someone people could depend on in times of need. Her nurturing nature extended far beyond her work, and she was considered a mother to many children who were blessed by her love, guidance, and encouragement.
Sheila also enjoyed the simple pleasures of life. In her spare time, she loved shopping and always looked for a good deal, especially when it involved boots. She treasured time spent with her girls and with the many special adopted girls who held a special place in her heart. Her warmth, humor, and loving presence made her unforgettable to those who knew her.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband and the father of her children, Paul Clark; her second husband, Carlos Clark; one brother, Phillip Holmes; and a special grandmother, Vivian Motley.
She is survived by two daughters, Melissa Hendrick (Stephen) of Crestview, Florida and Jessica “JJ” Clark of Crestview, Florida; three siblings, Greg Holmes (Lydia), Lisa Denning (Walter), and Paul Holmes (Lori), all of Ponce de Leon, Florida; a special cousin, Peggy Hunt (Jim) of Panama City, Florida; and several special nieces and nephews.
