SHELBY “KIM” SHELLEY
GREENVILLE, AL… Shelby “Kim” Shelley, a resident of Greenville, Alabama, formerly of Headland, Alabama, passed away Friday night, September 4, 2026, of an apparent heart attack. He was 69.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 A.M. Saturday, September 12, 2026, at Wright Funeral Home and Crematory with Reverend Tim McCraney and Brother Joey Pettis officiating. The family will receive friends from 9:30 until 11:00 A.M. prior to the service. Burial will follow in the New Zion Free Will Baptist Church Cemetery. Wright Funeral Home & Crematory is in charge of the arrangements.

Kim was born to Janelle Sanders Shelley and the late Shelby Earl Shelley. He attended Headland High School and was a proud member of the Class of 1975. Kim was a man who could build just about anything. He later retired from Greenville Chevrolet, where he served as Finance Manager. He spent many years working as a contractor and home builder, taking great pride in his work and in the homes, he helped create. He owned and operated S&S Investment and Developments in Greenville.
Kim had a personality that was larger than life and a wonderful sense of humor. He was a true prankster, and one of his favorite nicknames was “The Fun Uncle,” or simply “Funcle.” He loved making people laugh and creating memories that his family and friends will treasure for years to come. Kim was an avid Alabama football fan and enjoyed cheering on his beloved Crimson Tide. He loved fireworks and had a lucky streak that seemed to follow him wherever he went—he could win just about any game he played. Kim was also a great cook and loved feeding others, especially his employees. He was generous to a fault and never hesitated to help someone in need. Whether it was giving someone money when they needed a helping hand, preparing a meal, or simply being there for someone, Kim gave freely and wholeheartedly. His generosity continued even in death, as he selflessly donated his body for the benefit of others.
Above all, Kim loved his family dearly, especially his daughter, BreAnna. Family was at the heart of his life, and he cherished every moment spent with the people he loved. He will be remembered not only for the things he built with his hands, but for the lives he touched through his humor, generosity, kindness, and love.
Kim leaves behind a legacy of laughter, generosity, hard work, and devotion to his family. He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
In addition to his dad, Kim is preceded in death by two nieces, Rachel Shelley Barnard and Anna Michelle Shelley.
Surviving relatives include his daughter, BreAnna Shelley; and BreAnna’s mother, DeAnna Shelley; his mother, Janelle Sanders Shelley; his sisters, Karen Shelley Herring (Larry) and Krista Shelley Williams (Dave); his brothers, Kenny Shelley (Marsha) and Kirby Shelley (Jan); his nieces and nephews, Ashley Shelley (Staci), Scott Shelley (Shea), Jamie Kidd Windham (Tim), Zach Shelley, Kasey Shelley Thomas (Colby), Shelley Mitchell (Matt), Bart Barnard; his eighteen great-nieces and nephews; his one great-great-nephew; and his several cousins, family members, and close friends.
