DOTHAN: Under clear skies at Highland Oaks Golf Course, golfers teed off Thursday in the annual Sheriff’s Cup, a tournament supporting local children in foster care.
Michael Smith, CEO of the organization, said he is excited about the group’s new property in the Cowarts community. The site covers more than 109 acres and will serve the organization’s foster care mission.
The need is real. The organization serves 71 young people between the ages of 6 and 19 who have been removed from their homes by the Department of Human Resources (DHR) because their families were unable to care for them.
Supporters of the tournament say events like the Sheriff’s Cup help give those young people a chance at stability and a brighter future.
Your support creates a steady, grace-filled environment where children can grow in courage, character, and Christ. This year, we’re watching Ranchers step into new opportunities like jobs, clubs, music programs, driver’s permits, baptisms, and friendships that feel even more like family. Every Ranch family attends church together, serves in their communities, and takes part in youth camps that strengthen their faith. Each step forward is proof that love heals. Each milestone reflects the care of our Houseparents. Each story is touched by your generosity.
