ABBEVILLE. . .Shirley Lowman Lisenby, a resident of Abbeville, passed away early Monday morning, September 7, 2026, at her home. She was 90.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Wednesday, September 9, 2026, in the Holman-Abbeville Mortuary Chapel with Darden Kirby and Pastor Ricky Sowell officiating. The family wll receive friends from 10:00 until 11:00 A.M. Wednesday at the mortuary. Burial will follow in the Abbeville Memorial Cemetery.
Flowers will be accepted or memorial contributions may be made to the First Baptist Church of Abbeville “Rebuild Fund”, P.O. Box 606, Abbeville, AL 36310.
Mrs. Lisenby was born and raised in Abbeville, daughter of the late A. F. Lowman and Nellie Ward Lowman. She lived in Dothan several years before returning to Abbeville where she lived most of her lifetime. Mrs. Lisenby was a member of First Baptist Church of Abbeville. She was retired from the Henry County Board of Education as a school bus driver. Mrs. Lisenby was a wondeful homemaker and great seamstress and was affectionately known by her grandchildren as “Munner”. She was preceded in death by her husband, Benny Carroll Lisenby, a daughter, Carol Summers, a son-in-law, Jerry Summers, a son, Benny Wayne Lisenby, sisters, Reba Lowman, Catherine Fleming and Sara Nell Lowman and an infant brother, James Lowman.
Surviving relatives include a daughter, Bonnie Lott (Kenneth), Abbeville; a sister, Christine Weathington, Newville; brothers, Joseph “Buddy” Lowman (Dorte”), Johnson City, TN; Ward Lowman (Janice), Enterprise; and Grady Lowman, Montgomery; grandchildren, Billy Ormes (Teri), Traci Thompson (Kenny), Dana Wofford (Jarred) and Lucas Wayne Lisenby, great-grandchildren, Wyatt Ormes, Tannar Ormes, Sara Kate Thompson, Tripp Thompson, Taylor Wofford, Carter Wofford and Ellora Lisenby; several nieces and nephews.
