Headland Dixie Youth Majors fell just short of the State Championship when Alexandria hit a dramatic walk off homer in the bottom on the sixth inning with the score tied 2-2. Chase Wilkerson and Dave Loftin pitched for Headland and only gave up three hits during the game. Alexandria pitcher only gave up three hits also. The hits for Headland were a two run homer by Josh Bower, a double by Chase Wilkerson and a single by Dylan McKnight.Headland set the State Tournament team record for hits with 62. Chase Wilkerson set new tournament records with 15 hits and 16 runs scored. Wilkerson also won the Home Run Derby at the beginning of the tournament.Congratulations to the Headland team for what they accomplished. They have finished 2nd out of the entire state for 2 years in a row. GREAT JOB TEAM!!, EVERYONE IN HEADLAND IS PROUD OF YOU!!!!!
