Despite the heat today, this year's football season kicked off to a great start at the W.H. Brown Stadium in Ashford. The day started off with the C-Teams playing; Ashford vs. Seminole County. Seminole County scored the 1st touchdown of the season, and winning this game against the Jackets 19-0. Ashford came back though in their 2nd game of the day against the Cottonwood Bears, with what was thought to be a touchdown on the 1st play and again on the 2nd play. Because of a penalty though, they were brought back and finally on the Jackets' 3rd run down the field, the touchdown was successful, starting out a very interesting game for the C-Team!
The other C-Team games were Cotton vs Miller County, with Miller County scoring a 70 yard touchdown in the first few minutes of the game, with the final score being 21-0, Miller County. The Rehobeth Rebels scored a victory over the Seminole County Indians 13-0.
The B-Teams started out their season with the Ashford Jackets vs Seminole County Indians and the Jackets lost, 12-7, but they won their 2nd game of the day, 27-0 against Cottonwood. The games are still going on and a few have had to visit the on-sit ambulance, due to the heat, but considering how excessive the heat was today, it could have been a while lot worse. Overall, between lots of water, Gatorades and cooling towels, all the boys and girls have done great so far. Let the 2014 football season begin!!
