ECHO COMMUNITY. . .Steve Allen Stevens, a resident of Dale County, near the Echo Community, passed away Monday afternoon, March 2, 2026, in a Dothan hospital. He was 77.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P. M. Friday, March 6, 2026, in the Holman-Headland Mortuary Chapel with Reverend Jason Miller and Keith Reynolds officiating. Burial will follow in the New Hope Free Will Baptist Church Cemetery, near Echo. The family will receive friends from 12:00 Noon until 2:00 P.M. Friday at the mortuary in Headland.

Steve Stevens was a lifelong resident of Dale County, near the Echo Community, son of the late James Clayton Stevens and Ethel Kirkland Stevens. He was a 1966 graduate of Dale County High School in Midland City. Steve attended the University of West Alabama and Troy University-Dothan. He was retired as City President of PeoplesSouth Bank in Ozark. In earlier years, Steve was the Manager of ITT in Dothan and also served as Manager of Southland Bank in Headland. He was a member of the Board of Directors of Choctawhatchee, Pea and Yellow Rivers Watershed Management Authority. Steve formerly served as President of the Dale County Water Authority, and also served on the Board of Directors and as President of the Ozark area Chamber of Commerce. He was a founding member of Echo Fire & Rescue. Steve was a member of Corinth Free Will Baptist Church and Claybank Masonic Lodge No. 908. Steve was preceded in death by a daughter, Sondra Michelle Stevens and his brother, Dwight Stevens.
Surviving relatives include his wife, Sandra Fulford Stevens; a daughter, Stacy Harper (Bryan), nephews, Derick Stevens, Echo Community; and Devan Stevens (Rhonda), Athens, AL; an aunt, Alice Sewell, sisters-in-law, Trisha Turvin and Sheila Stewart (Don); several nieces and nephews.
Serving as active pallbearers will be John Stevens, Jeff Stevens, Preston Stevens, Clay Hagler, Judd Hagler, Carson Causey and Jeremy Cordell and also an honorary pallbearer, Jaxston Condrey.
