Terry Lamar Tharpe was born October 10, 1960 in Henry County, Alabama to the proud parents of Paul L. Tharpe and Ruby L. Danzey Tharpe. He accepted Christ at an early age to be a Christian.
He attended Early Childhood School in Abbeville, AL and graduated from Northview High School, Dothan, AL. After graduation from high school, he attended Troy University.
Terry lived in Atlanta, Georgia where he worked as a professional security guard for The Guard Alliance for 30 years. He was joined in holy matrimony to Sonia Barker in Atlanta, GA in 1988 and to this union one son was born, Terry Lamar Tharpe, Jr.
Terry departed this life on Wednesday, January 7, 2026 at Southeast Alabama Medical Center, Dothan, AL. He was preceded in death by his parents, Paul L. Tharpe and Ruby L. Tharpe.
He leaves to cherish his memories: two once son, Terry Lamar Tharpe, Jr., Dothan, AL; three brothers, Michael Tharpe, Harvey Tharpe, and Ivey Tharpe all of Dothan, AL; four sisters, Sandra Tharpe, Felicia (Bernard) Washington, Paula Tharpe, all of Dothan, AL and Sharon Tharpe of Atlanta, GA; one uncle, Raymond Tharpe and three aunts, Mable Washam, Mary Danzey and Martha Danzey all of Dothan, AL; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and special friends.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, January 16, 2026 at 11 a.m. at Horace Williams Mortuary, 1457 E. Main Street, Dothan, AL 36301
