Vera Merle Adcock Phillips of Chancellor, AL went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, September 14, 2025. She was 97.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, September 16, 2025 at Providence Methodist Church, St. Highway 85, Chancellor, AL with Rev. Jerry May officiating and Delia Finch, her granddaughter, delivering the eulogy. Burial will follow in Shady Grove Assembly of God Church Cemetery with Warren Holloway Ward Funeral Home of Geneva directing. The family will receive friends at the church on Tuesday beginning at 9:00 a.m.
Mrs. Merle was born in Geneva Co., AL on November 06, 1927 to the late Joe Lewis and Mary Elizabeth Wood Adcock. She was a loving mother, grandmother. She enjoyed sewing, crocheting, reading her Bible and working word puzzles. She was a lifelong member of Providence Methodist Church where she taught Sunday School, Bible study and led the choir for many years, faithfully. Merle was a 75-year member of the Loyalty #438 Order of the Eastern Star, of which she faithfully attended meetings, as late as last week. She will be missed by many who loved her deeply.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Blonnie Wilbur Phillips and one son, Roland Phillips.
Mrs. Merle is survived by one daughter, Ginger Brooks; one son, Ronald Phillips (Carolyn); seven grandchildren, Wilbur Phillips (Victoria), Veruschka Phillips, Julie Stephens (Joey), Delia Finch (Michael), Zachary Phillips, Zale Phillips and Laura Johnson (Jan) and numerous special great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.
Serving as pallbearers will be Zale Phillips, Jan Johnson, Michael Finch, Cayden Johnson, Jake Fain and Jason Webster.
