VERNA JOSEPHINE NOWLIN
HEADLAND… Verna Josephine Nowlin, a resident of Headland, Alabama, passed away Thursday, September 18, 2025, at Wesley Place on Honeysuckle. She was 67.
Memorial services will be held 5:30 P.M. Tuesday, September 23, 2025, at Wright Funeral Home and Crematory Chapel with Pastor Ernie Gray officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
Mrs. Nowlin was born in Montgomery, Alabama, to the late B.C. Kent and Mary Couch Kent. She later moved to the Wiregrass area, where she spent the majority of her life surrounded by the people and places she loved most.
She will be fondly remembered for her vibrant spirit, humor, and the joy she brought to her family and friends. Mrs. Nowlin had a flair for color, with a special love for purple and red. She delighted in word searches, shopping, and could often be found enjoying her favorite television shopping network, QVC. She was known as an impulse buyer, always discovering “unnecessary” treasures that made her and those around her smile.
Her family often laughed at her tendency to “Go Live” on Facebook without realizing it, a reflection of the lightheartedness she carried through life. One of her most cherished traditions was having her nails done by her daughter, Jessica, a simple act that became a meaningful bond between them.
Mrs. Nowlin was a devoted Alabama football fan. Though she sometimes enjoyed a nap during a game, she would wake with perfect timing to cheer proudly, “Roll Tide!” She also loved the serenity of the beach, where she found rest and happiness.
Above all, Mrs. Nowlin’s greatest joy was her family. She treasured time spent with her loved ones and created countless memories that will live on in their hearts.
She was preceded in death by her parents, B.C. Kent, and Mary Couch Kent; sister, Mary Collins; brothers, Robert Couch, PeeWee Kent, Bobby Lee Kent, and Butch Kent.
She is survived by her spouse, Robert Nowlin; children, Wanda Henderson (Levi), Jessica Frazier (Mikall), Ann Clements, and Jessie Nowlin; four grandchildren, seven great grandchildren; sister, Wanda Crider (Steve); and many other relatives and friends who will deeply miss her presence.
Mrs. Nowlin’s warmth, laughter, and love will remain forever in the hearts of those who knew her.
The family would like to give a sincere thank you to Southern Care Hospice for the care and support of Ms. Nowlin.
