Virginia Ann Chavez, age 66, of Dothan, Alabama, passed away on August 10, 2026, in Dothan. She was a loving, friendly, and thoughtful woman whose warmth touched the lives of many, and she will be remembered with great affection by all who knew her.
Virginia was born on August 16, 1959, in Houston County to the late A.W. and Annie Mae Cain, and she lived there her whole life. She carried the values of her upbringing throughout her life, meeting others with kindness, sincerity, and a gentle spirit. Her presence brought comfort and encouragement to those around her, and she had a way of making people feel welcome and cared for.
Virginia devoted much of her working life to helping others. She worked at Larry’s BBQ, where she continued to share her friendly personality and her gift for connecting with people. She also served in ER Registration at Southeast Health for over 25 years. Through years of service, she became known for her steady work ethic and her ability to treat others with dignity and respect.
Family was central to Virginia’s life, and she treasured the time she spent with those she loved most. She is survived by her sons, Cameron Chavez and Jonathan (April) Chavez. She was a proud and loving grandmother to Abagail Chavez and Hunter Chavez, and she found great joy in attending their events and being present in their lives. Her grandchildren held a special place in her heart, and she cherished every opportunity to encourage them and celebrate their accomplishments.
Virginia was preceded in death by her brother, Gregory Cain. Though her family grieves her passing, they take comfort in the many memories they shared and in the lasting example of love and kindness she leaves behind. Her life was one of devotion to her family, and her influence will continue to be felt through the generations that follow.
Those who knew Virginia will remember her as an animal lover who especially adored her beloved dog, Maxwell. She found happiness in simple pleasures and was happiest when surrounded by the people and pets she loved. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, attending their activities, and celebrating the moments that mattered most to them. Her love of people was evident in the way she carried herself each day, and she had a natural ability to make others feel seen and valued.
