Virginia “Jenny” (Scoggin) Culbreth

Jenny Culbreth, 91, a resident of Dothan, is now with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ after passing on Thursday, August 20, 2026. She was surrounded by her family at her home where she passed peacefully.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, August 29, 2026, at Glover Funeral Home with Reverend James Culbreth officiating. Burial will follow at Ebenezer Baptist Church Cemetery with Glover Funeral Home of Dothan directing. Jenny was born July 7, 1935, in Newport News, Virginia to the late Lacy L. & Julia M. (Harper) Scoggin. Jenny grew up in Newport News, where she graduated from high school and went on to work as an administrative assistant for NASA’s Department of Engineering at Langley Air Force Base. It was there that she met the love of her life, Frank Culbreth. They were wed on November 26, 1955, and started their life and family together in Atlanta, Georgia. After a few moves, they finally made their home in Dothan, Alabama, sharing more than 40 years there. Faith and church community were central to her life. As long-term members of Calvary Baptist Church, both she and Frank poured their hearts into teaching Bible study, singing in the senior choir, and helping wherever there was a need.

Above all, Jenny will be most remembered for her praying heart, laughter, deep love of Frank, and the joy she found in her family, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Jenny’s heart was created for service. Her life was a testimony of service, both professionally and personally. She committed her time and resources to serving children with special needs, underserved families, visiting nursing homes and the homebound. Her special love for children with unique needs inspired her to create the first-ever special needs ministry at Calvary Baptist Church, leaving behind a lasting legacy of love.

Jenny was the 5^th of a large close-knit family. She was preceded in death by her husband of 70 years, Frank Culbreth, and parents; her sister and brother-in-law, Nellie Gerringer (Earl); her five brothers and sisters-in-law, Vance Scoggin (Phyllis), Lonnie Scoggin (Dena), Lacy Scoggin, Hubert Scoggin, and Ernest Scoggin.

She is survived by her son, Dean Culbreth (Charla) of Dothan; her three daughters, Lynn Daniels (Danny) of Marietta, GA, Debra Mullis of Dothan, and Kathy Winfield (Andy) of San Diego, CA; her sister, Eunice “Sally” Shires (Jimmy) of Forest, VA; her brother-in-law, Gerald Culbreth (Linda) of Tallahassee, FL; her sisters-in-law, Ginny Culbreth of Tallahassee, FL and Gloria Culbreth of Montgomery; her 11 grandchildren & 19 great-children; and several nieces and nephews.

Serving as pallbearers are her grandsons, Jeff Culbreth, Cliff Daniels, Logan Mullis, Alex Culbreth, Tanner Culbreth, and Landon Mullis.
