Wanda Newsom Tice of Samson, AL passed away on Tuesday, October 13, 2026, at her home. She was 75 years old.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm on Friday, October 16, 2026, in the chapel of Warren Holloway Ward Funeral Home with Rev. Alan Marsh officiating. Burial will follow at Travelers Rest Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 1:00 pm until service time.
Wanda was born on April 27, 1951, to the late Albert and Sudie Broxson Newsom in Geneva County, AL. Wanda had a passion for flowers, gardening, and the people around her. Throughout two decades in the florist industry at Samson Flower and Gift World, she created not only magnificent flower arrangements but also had deep connections with those she encountered within the community. Her culinary talents were equally remarkable as she found profound joy in preparing meals and generously feeding her family and anyone fortunate enough to experience her cooking.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Vicki Whittle; her brother, Glenn Newsom; and her nephew, John David Hawthorne.
Wanda is survived by her loving husband of 56 years, William R. “Billy” Tice of Samson, AL; her children, Jeff Tice (Gina) of Geneva, AL and Christy Cotton (Clint) of Coffee Springs, AL; her three grandchildren, Kacy Qualls (Michael) of Enterprise, AL, Troy Cotton (Hailey) of Samson, AL, and Tanner Cotton (Nicole) of Coffee Springs, AL; three great-grandchildren, Evan, Carson, and Ellie; her siblings, June Meredith (Ken) of Brantley, AL, and Henry Newsom (Penny) of Tuscaloosa, AL; her nephews, John Hawthorne and Brad Meredith; her niece, Keena Grissom; her brother-in-law, Kenneth Tice (Peggy) of Geneva, AL; and her sister-in-law, Lisa Courson of Geneva, AL.
