WAYNE F. KRIST
DOTHAN… Wayne F. Krist, a resident of Dothan, Alabama, passed away Sunday, May 17, 2026, at Enterprise Health & Rehab Center, surrounded by his loving family. He was 85.
Funeral services will be held at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday, May 21, 2026, at Ridgecrest Baptist Church with Reverend Ray Jones and Reverend Chuck Locke officiating. Burial will follow in Gardens of Memory Cemetery in Headland, Alabama. The family will receive friends from 2:30 until 3:30 p.m. prior to the service at the church. Wright Funeral Home & Crematory is in charge of the arrangements.

Mr. Krist was born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, to the late Ernest Krist and Adeline Caroline Dumann Krist. He was a 1958 graduate of North Division High School in Milwaukee. Following graduation, he proudly served his country in the United States Army, including service in England. Wayne began his professional career in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, working for Mobil Oil. From there, he enjoyed a long and successful career as a production control and purchasing manager, working for several companies, including Gates Corporation, Cummings Signs, and Carter Brothers. He moved to Dothan in 1976 and became deeply rooted in the community. He found his greatest fulfillment in serving others, especially during the last twelve years of his life as a chaplain at Flowers Hospital. His compassion and dedication to those in need reflected his strong faith and caring spirit. He was also a devoted member of Gideons International. An active member of Ridgecrest Baptist Church, Wayne faithfully served in numerous ministries and as Head of the Deacons. He also enjoyed fishing and cherished time spent with family and friends.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his beloved wife of sixty-one years, Joanne M. Krist, and his brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Jim and Nancy Leewe.
He is survived by his son, Reverend Kevin Krist (Valerie), Troy, Alabama; his daughter, Michele Lewis (David), Dothan, Alabama; his brother, Tom Krist (Penny), Richfield, Wisconsin; his nephew, Jim Leewe Jr. (Becky), St. Augustine, Florida; his grandchildren, Megan Whitson (Marcus), Pensacola, Florida, Jonathan Lewis, Auburn, Alabama, Jared Krist (Emaleigh), Troy, Alabama, and Jake Lewis, Auburn, Alabama; and his great-grandchildren, Presley Whitson, Eliza Whitson, Anna Whitson, and Abigail Whitson.
Serving as active pallbearers will be Jonathan Lewis, Jared Krist, Jake Lewis, Marcus Whitson, Ken Klatt, and Mike Phares.
The family extends a special thank you to Teresa Brannon, as well as the compassionate staff of Southern Care Hospice of Enterprise and Enterprise Health and Rehab Center, for the exceptional care and support provided.
