William Calvin “Bill” Adams, age 74, of Dothan, Alabama passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by family.  Bill was a devoted family man and friend to many and will be greatly missed by all that knew him and loved him.

Born in Dothan, Alabama on July 31, 1950, Bill lived in Dothan most all of his life.  He graduated from Dothan High School in 1968, matriculating to The University of Alabama.  In 1972, Bill graduated from The University of Alabama with a Bachelor of Science in Marketing.  He was also an active member of Sigma Nu Fraternity. Upon graduation, Bill moved back to Dothan to begin working in the family business Adams Beverages with his father Joe Adams.

Bill was extremely involved, serving on the Anheuser-Busch Panel, National Beer Wholesalers Association Board, and Alabama Wholesale Beer Association Board. Bill was inducted into the Dothan Chamber of Commerce Hall of Fame in April 2024.  Most recently, under his leadership, Adams Beverages received the prestigious Anheuser-Busch Ambassador of Excellence Award.  He will also be honored in October of this year at the National Beer Wholesalers Association Convention with the Lifetime Achievement Award. Bill has contributed to numerous organizations, including The University of Alabama Crimson Tide Foundation and in 2021, he was inducted in The University of Alabama Bryant Society.

Bill was a well-respected man in the Dothan community and among all of his peers, both personal and business. He had a genuine respect for everyone he met and treated all with the same kindness and interest regardless of his or her place in life. He lived life two ways. First with no regrets choosing to look at the path ahead and never the rearview mirror.  Secondly, he lived for others always deflecting attention from himself. Nowhere was this more evident than his relationships with his family and friends. His greatest accomplishment was the happiness he witnessed amongst his family.  He loved animals of all types especially those without a home.  He was most happy sinking a putt on the last hole to win a bet from his friends or cruising St. Andrews Bay with his wife, children, and grandchildren.

Bill was a man of unwavering character and deep integrity, known for his kindness, generosity, and quiet strength. A devoted protector, encourager, and supporter, he always put his family first, offering constant love, guidance, and support without hesitation. His legacy will live on through those he loved and the lives he touched.

Surviving him are his loving wife Carmen Adams, the mother of his children Mary Adams, his sister Sydney Adams Powell, stepsister Shea Mendheim, his son Clay Adams and his children Collin, Jackson, and Maggie; his daughter Amy Adams Dupree and her husband Chris and their children Mary Peyton, Millie, William, Stone and Spencer; his stepdaughter Kimberly Davis and her husband Brad and their son Charlie.

Bill was preceded in death by his father Joe Adams, his stepmother Barbara Adams, and his mother Rosemary Adams.

The Adams family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to Pearleen Corbitt for her care and dedication to Bill.

In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to First United Methodist Church, New Promise Cancer Foundation, Southeast Health Foundation, or Wiregrass Pet Rescue and Adoption Center.
