Willie Edna Kennington Cardwell of Montgomery, AL, formerly of Samson, AL went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, July 08, 2026. She was 89.

Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, July 11, 2026, in the chapel of Warren Holloway Ward Funeral Home in Geneva, AL with Rev. Mark Cooper officiating. Burial will follow in Fairview Baptist Church Cemetery with Warren Holloway Ward Funeral Home directing. The family will receive friends at the funeral home beginning at 2:00 p.m. Flowers will be accepted.

Edna was born in Coffee Co, AL on April 21, 1937, to the late Fred Aris and Willie Pearl Stephens Kennington. She was a loving and devoted mother, grandmother, great grandmother and sister. She enjoyed being with family, working word search books and really enjoyed singing in church.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Douglas D. Cardwell and two brothers, Lamon and Johnny Kennington.

Edna is survived by her son, Steven Douglas Cardwell (Tammy) of Montgomery, AL; seven grandchildren, Brittany Manning (Justin) of Prattville, AL, Brett Cardwell (Brianne) of Millbrook, AL, Brandon Cardwell of Houston, TX, Blake Cardwell (Sommer) of Prattville, AL, Brock Cardwell (Caitlin) of Wetumpka, AL, Jordan Turner (Khaylee) of Enterprise, AL and Christian Turner (Kendra) of Jack, AL; 13 great grandchildren; one brother, Jim Kennington (Gayla) of Longwood, FL and a number of special nieces, nephews and extended family and friends.

The family would like to extend a special “Thank You” to Cassie Britton, Valerie Mosier, Katie Curry and the staff at Enhabit Hospice for their loving and devoted care of our loved one.

Serving as pallbearers will be Brett Cardwell, Brandon Cardwell, Blake Cardwell, Brock Cardwell, Jordan Turner and Justin Manning.
