Willie Fred McGilvary, a resident of Clayton, Alabama, passed away Wednesday, September 30, 2026. He was 99 years old.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, October 3, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. in the Glover Funeral Home Chapel in Clayton, Alabama, with Dr. Ray Cureton officiating and Glover Funeral Home directing. The burial will follow in the Pleasant View Presbyterian Church Cemetery. A visitation will be held from 10:00-10:45 a.m. prior to the service at the funeral home. Flowers will be accepted.

Born on December 17, 1926, in Eufaula, Alabama, Fred was the son of the late Willie and Ethel Land Mcgilvary. Fred served in the Merchant Marines where he served in World War II. He worked for the State of Alabama, where he retired from the ABC Store in Clayton, Alabama, as the Store Manager. In his spare time, he enjoyed fox hunting and horses. Fred was a member of Pleasant View Presbyterian Church.

He is preceded in death by his parents; three sisters, Irene Benefield, Elizabeth Moore, Dorothy Baker; brother, Bill McGilvary.

Left to cherish his memories are his loving wife of 42 years, Elizabeth Morrison McGilvary; son, Winston Cordell of Texasville, Alabama; daughter, Marie Harbin (Tony) of Louisville, Alabama, five grandchildren, several great-grandchildren, three great-great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

Active pallbearers will be Robbie Long, Josh Long, Nathan Long, Bryan Cordell, James Allen Morrison, and Robert Owen.

Honorary pallbearers will be Kendall Cooper, Justin Cooper, John Robert Watson, Tony Harbin, and Huey Brightwell.
