For Dwight, being a police officer was far more than a career—it was a passion and a purpose. He took great pride in wearing the badge and dedicated his life to serving and protecting others with honor, courage, and unwavering commitment.
For 21 years, Officer Grooms faithfully served the citizens of Headland with professionalism, integrity, and a steadfast commitment to protecting his community. His service left a lasting impact on the department and on the countless lives he touched throughout his career.
Law enforcement is more than a profession—it is a calling. Officer Grooms answered that call with distinction, and his legacy will not be forgotten. We are grateful for his years of dedicated service and for the example he set for those who had the privilege of serving alongside him.
Dwight never met a stranger and was always willing to lend a helping hand. He believed deeply in protecting those who could not protect themselves and approached each day with a servant’s heart. The friendships he formed through law enforcement became an extended family, and he cherished the bonds he shared with his fellow officers.
His legacy is one of honor, dedication, integrity, and selfless service. He will be remembered not only for the awards and recognition he received, but also for the countless lives he touched through his kindness, compassion, and commitment to others.
Please keep Officer Grooms’ family, friends, and fellow officers in your thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.
Rest easy, Officer Grooms. Your watch has ended, but your service, sacrifice, and memory will live on forever.
TAYLOR: The City of Taylor Council Meeting, featuring Mayor Robert Lamb, met tonight in their regular meeting. Honestly, I forgot the meeting so RSN did not appear. Instead, I met some friends at HUNT’S for dinner.
It us my understanding that Taylor’s famous Mayor, “THE ROBERT LAMB” appointed Tim Miller as Interiem Taylor Police Chief. From my understanding the Taylor City Council never voted on the issue.
There is only so long Alan Benefield’s APOST will allow someone to serve as Interiem Police Chief. Mayor Robert Lamb appointed the now “former” Interiem Police Chief, who is a current Geneva County Sheriff Deputy, as Code Enforcement Officer.
The City of Taylor has not followed their own Personnel Rules and Regulations on Mayor Robert Lamb’s termination of then Taylor Police Chief James Brazier. Furthermore, the Cityof Taylor has not followed Alabama Law in requiring a hearing on termination of James Brazier. A hearing is requied the Alabama State Law.
Since November 3, 2025 to present Mayor Lamb could have the City of Taylor obligated to the pay of James Brazier until now. Some of the Taykor Council understands that Mayor Lamb is not the final say or the council members boss.
The petition for recal of Mayor Lamb which was returned with signatures calling for such has never been addressed. Gues what council members? Time for ya’ll to force those items to a head. While Robert Lamb’s STUPID actions has gotten ya’ll into this mess, ya’ll are acting as stupid by not forcing it to a head and to be addressed.

LOVETOWN-COTTONWOOD: Last evening a service was held in the soon to be Worship Center for Union Hill Baptist Church.
The service was led by Carpenters For Christ 2026. This group of 70 men from the Autagua Baptist Association go help churches for 10 days. The trips are scheduled the week before Father’s Day and free to the church.
These 70 plus men are from all walks of life, some mechanics, some truck drivers, some retired, from multiple walks of life. They come in and build or rebuild churches or church related facilities for the cause of Jesus Christ and building the Kingdom of God. This was the 32nd year of which groups have ministered in multiple states.
Last evening the men shared through some testimony and leading the service. Each participant puts in $ 150.00 which covers the cost of their shirt and cap. The churches are responsible for housing the men working and meals, three times a day.
They completed a lot of work helping Union Hill Baptist Church with their new auditons.
A great group of men serving Jesus Christ and the Kingdom of God.
