Betty (Lewis) Watson, a resident of Dothan passed away on November 16, 2025 at Flowers Hospital in Dothan at the age of 89.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, November 20, 2025 at 11:30AM in the Glover Funeral Home Chapel with Ed Stuart officiating. Burial will follow in the Memory Hill Cemetery with Glover Funeral Home directing. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday, November 20, 2025 from 10:30AM until 11:30AM prior to service.

Betty was born in Elmore County on September 13, 1936 to John and Geneva Mitchell Lewis. She met the love of her life, Bill Watson Jr., in Montgomery, Alabama and was married forty-nine years before his passing. She completed her education at Elmore County High School, graduating in 1953. After graduation she began what was thought to be her career at the Lee County Courthouse before embarking on a career as bookkeeper for the Dothan City School System, retiring after thirty-five years. She was a girl scout leader for many years. She loved her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and was a faithful member of Highland Park Methodist Church for fifty years. She played an active role as youth leader and Sunday School teacher.
She is preceded in death by her parents; husband; two brothers, Charles Lewis and Michael Lewis.
Left to cherish her memories are one son, Charles B. Watson (Jenny) of Mobile, AL; two daughters, Debra Bryant (Ted) of Auburn, AL, Cathy Irvin (Sam) of Dothan, AL; two sisters, Barbara Fitzsimons (Bernie) and Patricia Thompson, both of Eclectic, AL; five grandchildren, Ted W. Bryant (Ashley), Annon Sasser (Scott), Will Bryant, Emily Manley (Matt), Adam Irvin; seven great grandchildren, Bryant Sasser, Mollyann Sasser, Ansleigh Bryant, Abigail Bryant, Avery Manley, James Manley, Luke Manley; and numerous friends.
Serving as active pallbearers will be Charles Watson, Matthew Manley, Ted W. Bryant, Will Bryant, Scott Sasser, and Bryant Sasser.

Billy C. Williams, a cherished family man, respected veteran, and friend to many, passed away peacefully on November 16, 2025, in Dothan, Alabama. Born on September 24, 1956, Billy’s life was one marked by dedication, love, and a touch of delightful stubbornness that those close to him knew all too well.
Billy grew up in the close-knit community of Troy and carried with him the values of hard work and integrity throughout his life. He proudly graduated from Goshen High School, where he formed lifelong friendships and laid the foundations of his future. After high school, he honorably served in the Air Force for four years, a period of service that instilled in him a sense of pride and patriotism that he carried throughout his life.
Upon returning to civilian life, Billy embarked on a fulfilling career at Sony, where he dedicated 30 years. His commitment to excellence and his straightforward, direct approach earned him the respect and admiration of his colleagues. Billy’s work ethic was unparalleled, and he was known for his ability to solve problems with grace and efficiency.
Billy’s heart was always at home with his loving wife of 40 years, Teresa Williams. He leaves behind a beautiful family, including his children Ricco Swanson (April), Marco Swanson (Yuridia Tejada), Brandon Williams (Ophelia), and McKayla Williams. He was a doting grandfather to nine grandchildren, each of whom brought immense joy and laughter into his life.
Family was the cornerstone of Billy’s world. He was the beloved brother of Louise Davenport (J.W.), Shirley Youngblood (Roy), Coretta Sears, and Lucile Foster. His sisters-in-law, Wanda Davis, Pamela Long (Marcos), Janice Jones, and Mia Ward, deserve special thanks for their unwavering support and care for Billy in his later years. He leaves behind two special uncles, Henry and Robert Williams, and his mother-in-law, Lorine Ward. Billy’s legacy is one of love, loyalty, and the joy of a life well-lived. His memory will be cherished and kept alive by his family, including his many nieces, nephews, and family friends, James Carol and Aaron Berry. He was predeceased by his devoted parents, Willie C. Williams and Voncile Williams, who instilled in him the virtues of kindness and compassion.
Billy’s interests were as vibrant and varied as his personality. An avid lover of Bingo and the excitement of casinos, he also found peace and contentment in simpler pleasures. He was often found outside on his porch, soaking in the tranquility of nature, or tending to his vegetable garden. His grilling skills were legendary, and he relished the opportunity to share his culinary creations with family and friends. Fishing was more than a hobby for Billy; it was a chance to connect with the outdoors and to share quiet moments with those he loved.
A celebration of Billy’s life will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, November 21, 2025 at Sunset Funeral Home with Pastor Wilbert Dawsey officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to service time. Billy will be laid to rest in Sunset Memorial Park following military honors.

Mr. Michael Eugene “Mike” Watson, a resident of Skipperville, Alabama, died Monday, November 3, 2025. He was 59 years old.
In keeping with the wishes of the family, there are no public services planned for Mr. Watson at this time. Holman Funeral Home of Ozark has been entrusted with the arrangements.
Mr. Watson was born July 7, 1966 in Ozark, Alabama to the late Durwood Eugene Watson and Marjorie Bludsworth Watson. He graduated from Carroll High School in 1985 and the Alabama Aviation and Technical College. He worked with various aviation contractors throughout the south. He worked last with Pemco World Air Services. He was one time Assistant Manager with Road Mart in Ozark. Mike was an over-the-road truck driver with J. B. Hunt and with James Whitman hauling Big Dog Motorcycles. Mike loved hunting, fishing, riding motorcycles and swimming. He was an avid Alabama fan.
Survivors include his wife, Shannon Goolsby Watson; one daughter, Jenna Newton; two sons, Matthew Smith and Ben Smith (Raven); one sister, Meloni Watson; and one brother, Jeff Watson. Six grandchildren also survive.
Lillian Arlene Sasser (Arlene), age 86, passed away on Monday, November 17, 2025, at her residence after an extended illness.
Visitation will be held on Friday, November 21, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at Ward Wilson Funeral Home Chapel on Hwy. 52 in Dothan, Alabama. Arlene’s eulogy will be given by Pat Williams, a long-time family friend. Reverend Scott Cox will be giving closing remarks and Prayer. A private graveside service will be held for the family members prior to the visitation/memorial services with Reverend Tommy Green of Bay Springs Baptist Church officiating.
Arlene was born in Brundidge, Alabama to the late Ella Barefoot Hargrove and Freeman Earton Hargrove. After graduating from high school Arlene attended Troy University where she met the love of her life, Jack Sasser and they were married in 1958. Arlene and Jack were married for 63 years before his death in 2021.
Arlene worked at the Sure Gas company in Marianna Florida as the secretary after the couple moved there in 1960. In 1972 they moved to Dothan Alabama where Arlene became the secretary/bookkeeper at Grandview Elementary School until her retirement. Arlene loved to travel with her friends and family members and was often teased about her love of shopping; however, she will always be remembered as being a loving wife, mother and friend. She will be missed greatly.
Arlene is preceded in death by her parents, brother, Ray Hulan Hargrove, sister, Cupie Dean Lesovich, brother-in-law, Andy Lesovich, brother, George M L Hargrove, sister, Sara Hargrove, son-in-law, Michael H. Atwell and numerous Aunts and Uncles.
Survivors include her daughters, Angie Atwell (Martin) of Dothan, Shari Rawls (Michael) of South Carolina, three grandchildren, Hudson Atwell (Shelby) of Dothan, Gavin Rawls (Katie) of Tennessee and Raegan Rawls. Sister-in-laws, Sandra Sasser Mathews (Max) of Andalusia, and Helen Hargrove of Dothan as well as many nieces and nephews along with their children.
Dr. Mark William Fischer, beloved father, brother, and esteemed Urologist, passed away on November 6, 2025, at the age of 75 in Dothan, Alabama. Mark was born on October 15, 1950, in Minot, North Dakota, where he spent his formative years. His life was a testament to adventure, intelligence, and courage, qualities that endeared him to all who were fortunate enough to cross paths with him.
After completing his undergraduate degree in Boulder, Colorado, Mark graduated Magna Cum Laude from University of Alabama, Birmingham and went on to a five year residency at the esteemed Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN. His dedication to service was evident early on as he joined the US Army, serving two tours in Vietnam with distinction, earning both the Bronze Star and the Purple Heart. In the 1980s, Mark moved to Dothan, where he established himself as a respected Urologist, serving the community for over three decades. Mark’s adventurous spirit led him to the skies and beyond. He was not only a skilled physician but also an avid aviator, holding a private pilot license. His love for flying was matched by his passion for racing, particularly Porsche cars, which he pursued with the same vigor and precision as his medical practice. His adventurous pursuits didn’t stop there; he also enjoyed skydiving and hiking, even conquering the formidable Mt. Everest, a feat that spoke volumes about his determination and zest for life.
A well-traveled man, Mark’s curiosity about the world took him to numerous countries, allowing him to embrace diverse cultures and experiences. His intelligence shone not only in his professional life but also in his ability to connect with people from all walks of life, making lasting friendships wherever he went.
Mark’s legacy is carried on by his loving family, including his sons, Stillman Fischer and Collin (Taylor) Fischer; his daughter, Stephanie Fischer (Damian Wingate); his brother, John Fischer; his sister, Margaret “Peg” (Steve) Moe; and several nieces and nephews who looked up to him as a role model and source of inspiration.
A celebration of Dr. Fischer’s life will be held at 11:00am on Saturday, December 6, 2025 at Sunset Funeral Home Chapel, where stories of his remarkable life will be shared, and memories cherished. The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to service time, providing an opportunity for those touched by Mark’s life to come together in honoring a man who lived fully, loved deeply, and left an indelible mark on the hearts of many.
