A beacon of love and laughter, Barbara Jean Harrison, a beloved mother, grandmother and friend, passed away on Friday, June 27, 2025 surrounded by her loving family. She was 82.
A celebration of her life will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday, July 3, 2025 at the chapel of Warren Holloway Ward Funeral Home in Geneva, AL. The family will receive friends at the funeral home beginning at 3:00 p.m.
Barbara was born on June 05, 1943 in Dayton, OH to the late Claude and Pauline Greer. Her life was a testimony of resilience and joy, a legacy she leaves to all who knew her. Barbara was the beloved wife of the late Mose Harrison, with whom she shared 53 wonderful years of marriage. A graduate of Stivers High School in Dayton, OH, she chose to dedicate her life to being a devoted homemaker, a role she cherished deeply, creating a warm and loving home for her family.
Barbara enjoyed spending time with her family and cooking their favorite meals, such as her famous Baptist pound cake, fondly known as Snowy Mountain cake, by her grandchildren, because of the powdered sugar on top. Pineapple upside-down cake, her Yankee potato salad, deviled eggs and the “best ever” lasagna were always a favorite, of which there were no leftovers! She loved canning squash pickles and strawberry fig preserves to share with family.
She would crochet creating blankets for loved ones, sewing for her children and grandchildren and making clothing for Raggedy Ann & Andy dolls. In her spare time, she enjoyed a good novel by Nicholas Sparks or listening to her Elvis collection. There was nothing that would make her miss the Young and the Restless or Bold and the Beautiful on the daily!
Gardening was a favorite. Eating tomatoes straight from the garden, caring for her beautiful flowers, picking a fresh bouquet of favorite gardenias to place in a vase in her home, to make it smell so good, always brought her a sense of serenity.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by three brothers, James, Charles and Jay Greer and granddaughter, Pearly Mae Bumgardner.
Barbara is survived by son, Ed Lawrence III of Enterprise, AL; granddaughter, Carrie Mobley (Will) of Richmond, Ky; great grandsons, Parkir, Warrin and Arthir Mobley of Richmond, KY; grandson, Norman Lawrence of Enterprise, AL; Daughter, Helena Bumgardner (Tommy) of Florala, AL, grandsons, Jessup Harrison, Bailey Nolan, both of Florala, AL, Harrison Nolan (Claire) of Andalusia, AL; Son, Heath Harrison (Kimberly) of Florala, AL, grandson, Emmett Harrison, granddaughter, Emma Harrison, both of Florala, AL, granddaughter, Lindsay Voiers of Enterprise, AL, grandson, Garrett Voiers of Somerset, KY and Michael Knight of Enterprise, AL, one she loved as her own. As he tells it, “always there for the food”.
OZARK…Mr. Lonnie E. Higginbotham, a resident of the Klondyke Hill Community, near Ozark, died late Monday evening, June 30, 2025, in a Dothan hospital. He was 69.
Celebration of Life Services will be held at 5:00 P.M. Monday, July 7, 2025, in Fuqua Bankston Funeral Home Chapel with his nephew, Pastor Gary Pollard officiating. The family will receive friends from 4:00 until 5:00 P.M. Monday at the funeral home. Fuqua Bankston Funeral Home of Ozark is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Higginbotham, beloved son of the late Shelby Leon Higginbotham and Frances Mae Kelley Higginbotham, was born in Avon Park, Florida, where he spent his early years shaped by the quiet values of hard work and resilience. In the early 1980s, he made the move to Ozark, Alabama, which soon became the place he proudly called home. He quickly became part of the fabric of the community—a familiar face known for his steady hands, kind heart, and laid-back spirit.
A man of many talents and strong work ethic, Mr. Higginbotham lent his skills to several companies over the years. He worked with F & W Construction Company, where he was known not only for his craftsmanship, but also for the sense of camaraderie he brought to every job site. Later, he drove for HTL Trucking, spending long hours on the road with a quiet diligence and reliability that others came to count on. Eventually, his path led him to Blackmon’s Body Shop in Ozark, where he was admired for his precision and pride in a job well done. To those who worked alongside him, he wasn’t just a co-worker—he was a friend, a trusted teammate, and someone who brought calm and clarity to even the busiest of days.
Outside of work, Mr. Higginbotham found joy in life’s simple pleasures. He especially loved playing billiards at the Village Inn, where he was a familiar figure behind the cue, always ready for a friendly game and a good laugh. It wasn’t just the competition he enjoyed, but the connection—the friendships built around shared stories and the clatter of pool balls. He was also a diehard fan of University of Alabama Football, and game days were a special kind of celebration. Whether cheering from his living room or bantering with friends about the latest plays, he wore his Crimson Tide pride on his sleeve.
Though he lived quietly, Mr. Higginbotham left a lasting impact on those fortunate enough to know him. He had a gentle nature, a steady presence, and a generous heart that found expression in quiet acts of kindness. Family meant the world to him, and his love for them was deep and unwavering. He was preceded in death by his great-nephew, D.J. Johnson.
Surviving relatives include his son, Timothy Higginbotham; two sisters including his twin, Bonnie Lane, Ozark and Dean Hinshaw, Headland; nieces and nephew, Tina Chandler (Jody), Gary Pollard (Talitha), and Amie Burgin (Wade); great-nieces and great nephews, Haley Johnson (Drew), Riyan Pollard, Addisyn Pollard, Garret Reeves, and Asher Rodriguez.

DOTHAN…Mrs. Betty Lynn Dominick, a resident of Dothan, died late Thursday evening, June 26, 2025, in a Dothan hospital. She was 71.
A gathering of family and friends will be held from 1:00 until 3:00 P.M. Sunday, July 6, 2025, at Fuqua Bankston Funeral Home. Fuqua Bankston Funeral Home of Ozark is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Dominick was born in Fort Monmouth, New Jersey, the beloved daughter of Herman Douglas Spear and Carol Frances Davis. Though her early roots were in New Jersey, her life journey took her through many places and chapters—each one leaving its mark. She spent years living in Park Forest and Chicago Heights, Illinois, where she built memories, worked hard, and raised her family with love and determination.
In 2008, she moved to Dothan, Alabama, where she found a new place to call home. Over the years, she worked in a variety of restaurants, bringing a strong work ethic, a warm smile, and a kind word to everyone she served. Feeling a deep pull toward helping others in a more personal way, she earned her certification as a Nursing Assistant. Caring for others wasn’t just her job, it was something she carried in her spirit. Whether it was patients or loved ones, she treated people with dignity, compassion, and grace. One of her favorite things to do, was to be at the beach.
Her faith was an important part of who she was. She was a faithful member of Ridgecrest Baptist Church in Dothan, where she found community, strength, and comfort. Those who knew her will remember her quiet strength, her generous heart, and her unshakable love for her family.
Her heart endured much over the years, including the loss of her beloved grandson, Max Tatum St. Hilaire. That kind of pain never leaves a person, but she carried it with courage and deep, abiding love.
Surviving relatives include her husband, Ted Dominick; son, David St. Hilaire (Kayla Lemire), all of Dothan; sister, Cathy Spear, Tinton Falls, New Jersey; granddaughter, whom she loved, Ivey Lynn St. Hilaire.
Marcia Ball Riley, age 60, a resident of Dothan, passed away Monday, June 30, 2025 at her home.

Marcia Ball Riley was born on March 16, 1965 to Billy Gene and Marilyn Kammerer Ball in San Antonio, Texas. In her early years she was known as an Air Force brat, so her family often moved from state to state as she grew up. Her family later settled in Dothan, and she graduated from Northview High School in 1983. She made a career as a Juvenile Probation Officer.
Marcia Ball Riley is preceded in death by her parents.

The world has lost a remarkable man, Robert “Bob” Jeffrey Theune, who departed this life on June 23, 2025, after a courageous battle with cancer. Born on November 2, 1960, in Akron, Ohio, Bob lived a life filled with passion, love, and an unwavering commitment to his family and community.
Bob’s educational journey was marked by excellence and determination. He graduated from Cuyahoga Falls High School in Ohio before attending Clarion College in Pennsylvania where he was an avid college athlete and All-American swimmer. He earned his undergraduate degree in Marketing from Kent State University in Ohio and furthered his education with a Master’s in Business Administration from Troy State in Alabama. His educational achievements provided him with the foundation for a successful career as a management executive in the manufacturing industry.
Bob’s commitment to his community was unparalleled. He dedicated countless hours serving on the boards of various organizations, including the Wiregrass Museum of Art, Houston County Library, Southeast Health, and the Board of Trustees and Staff Parish Committee at First United Methodist Church in Dothan, where he was a devout member. His passion for service reflected his fierce loyalty and his desire to uplift those around him.
An avid triathlete and Iron Man finisher, Bob completed the incredible feat of riding his bike across America in just 27 days. His zest for life and adventure was infectious, inspiring those around him to chase their dreams and push their limits. Whether he was cheering for the Alabama Crimson Tide or encouraging a friend at the starting line of a race, Bob’s enthusiasm and passion for life shone through every facet of his being.
Remembered as a fiercely loyal and always encouraging husband, father, and friend, Bob’s legacy will live on in the hearts of those he touched. His devotion to family and community exemplified his character; he was a man who believed in the power of love and connection.
Bob was the beloved son of Oliver Eugene and Evelyn Imogene (Beltz) Theune. He was preceded in death by his father, Oliver Theune, which left a profound impact on him throughout his life. Bob is survived by his loving wife, Dawn Theune, who stood by his side through thick and thin; and his devoted children, Tyler Theune (Jordan) of Pensacola, FL, Connor Theune of Birmingham, and Brad Dunning, Mary Hannah Owens (Damon), and David Dunning, all of Dothan and Charleston, SC; Bob’s mother, Evelyn Theune, of Dothan; He was a proud grandfather to Sydney Theune, Olivia Theune, Chapman Dunning, Florie Dunning, Betsy Dunning, Lachlan Owens, Adem Owens, and Calum Owens. Bob also leaves behind his cherished sister, Sue DeJulius (Mick) of Dothan, and several nieces and nephews, who all held a special place in his heart.
A Memorial Service to honor the life of Bob will be held at 3:00 p.m., Wednesday, July 16, 2025, at First United Methodist Church with Dr. David R. Saliba and Bishop R. Lawson Bryan officiating. A Celebration of Life will be held at the Dothan Country Club following the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the In Christ’s Name Fund at First United Methodist Church, 1380 W. Main Street, Dothan, AL 36301.

Mr. Durwood Gerald Hartzog, age 80, of Midland City, passed away Monday, June 30, 2025 surrounded by his family.
Born June 8, 1945 in Midland City to the late Roscoe “Jack” Hartzog and Hildred Hawkins Tucker Hartzog, Gerald served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. He enjoyed being outdoors, whether it be fishing or jogging. Gerald had a musical gift in playing the guitar but nothing beat those fall Saturdays watching the Alabama Crimson Tide play football.
In addition to his parents, Gerald was preceded in death by his infant son, Gerald Shane Hartzog.
He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Linda Spivey Hartzog; his daughters, Hilda June Hartzog-Eppard and Linda Kay Hogue-Bailey; his son, Charles Ramon Hogue; seven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; his sister, Betty Barrett; a special cousin, DeLaine Hawkins Spencer and numerous other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 2 PM, Wednesday, July 2, 2025 from the Ward Wilson Funeral Home with Pastor Chuck Longshore officiating. The family will receive friends from 1 PM until 2 PM, prior to the service at the funeral home.
