CW4 Murray Herbert Martin

CW4 (Ret.) Murray H. Martin, of Enterprise, AL, passed away Friday, February 7, 2025 at Bennie G. Adkins State Veterans Home. He was 92.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M., Friday, February 14, 2025 at Searcy Funeral Home and Crematory Chapel with Dr. Ben Bowden officiating. Burial will follow in Meadowlawn Cemetery with Searcy Funeral Home and Crematory directing. The family will receive friends beginning at 10:00 A.M. until service time. Flowers will be accepted, or memorial donations may be made in memory of Murray to First Baptist Church, Enterprise, Alabama; 302 N. Main St. Enterprise, AL.

Murray Martin was born September 2, 1932 in Coffee County to the late Larkin and Myrtle Martin. He served 4 years active duty in the United States Army during the Korean War and retired as a full time administrative personnel tech with the Alabama National Guard on September 2, 1992. He was a faithful member of the First Baptist Church of Enterprise, AL and was baptized by Dr. Justice in 1942. His last few years he was a caregiver to his loving wife Edna. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 72 years, Edna Martin; parents, Larkin and Myrtle Martin; sister, Johnny M. Wood; brothers, James C. Martin, Joseph F. Martin, and Paul H. Martin.

Survivors include three children, Bruce Martin (Marie), Hazlet, NJ, Edward Martin (Charlotte), Enterprise, AL, Karen Martin (Mike), Enterprise, AL; seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.

Murray loved the Lord and cherished his family and friends. He was a loving and thoughtful person and will be sorely and fondly missed.

Francile Cannon Carter

Francile Cannon Carter, of Enterprise, AL passed away Thursday, February 6, 2025, at Serenity South Senior Living. She was 96.

Memorial services will be announced at a later date.

Mrs. Carter was preceded in death by her husband of 70 years William A. Carter and a son Brett Carter.

Survivors include her daughter, Cynthia Carter, Scottsdale, AZ; son, William Clay Carter (Angie), Enterprise, AL; two grandchildren, Lindsay Diaz (Brian), Orlando, FL; Steve Carter (Stephanie), Washington D.C.; three great-grandchildren, Milo, Renji, and Cassian.

COLUMBIA, ALABAMA. . .Erwin Ronald “Ron” Johnson, Jr., a resident of Columbia, Alabama, a native of Michigan, died early Saturday morning, February 8, 2025, at his home. He was 79.
Memorial services will be held at a later date. Holman-Headland Mortuary & Cremations is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Johnson was born in Cadillac, Michigan and was reared in Manton, Michigan, son of the late Erwin Ronald Johnson and Leah Lou Stockwell Johnson. He served his country during the Vietnam War in the United States Navy. Mr. Johnson also served in the Navy Reserve. He retired as a Fiber Optic Technician with Ameritech in Cadillac, Michigan. Mr. Johnson served as Fire Chief at Cedar Creek Township, Michigan and was a Fire Investigator for Wexford County, Michigan. He was a member of the IAAI and formerly served as a County Commissioner in Wexford County, Michigan. Mr. Johnson was preceded in death by a sister, Sheila Hillard.
Surviving relatives include his wife, Theresa Hyde Johnson; a daughter, Jodi Johnson, and a son, Don Johnson, all of Columbia, Alabama; two grandchildren, Savanna Johnson and Lillian Johnson.

DOTHAN Judy Whatley Blomqvist, a resident of Dothan, Alabama, passed away Tuesday afternoon, February 4, 2025at her home at the age of 84.

Visitation will be held from 5:00 P.M. to 6:00 P.M. Monday, February 10, 2025 at Wright Funeral Home & Crematory. Wright Funeral Home & Crematory is in charge of the arrangements.

Mrs. Blomqvist was born in Clearwater, Florida, to the late Edward Whatley and Isabel Dillard Whatley. She previously lived in Miami, Florida, Naples, Florida, and Johnson City, Tennessee, before moving to Dothan, Alabama, nine years ago. In her earlier years she was an avid golfer. She also loved her dogs and later enjoyed growing flowers. 

Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Erik J. Blomqvist.

​She is survived by her daughter, Jocelyn Richburg (John); her son, Jay Wright (Colleen); her step-daughter, Susan O’Hara; her step-son, Erik Blomqvist (Kathy); her sister, Laurie Whatley; her brother, Ronnie Whatley; her ten grandchildren; and her six great-grandchildren.

Obituary for Mr. Lester F. “Les” Caudill (Command Sergeant Major, United States Army, Retired) of Ozark

OZARK…Mr. Lester F. “Les” Caudill (Command Sergeant Major, United States Army, Retired), died Wednesday morning, February 5, 2025, at his home in Ozark. He was 86.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Tuesday, February 11, 2025, at Ridgecrest Baptist Church with Reverend Dr. Scott E. Thompson officiating. Graveside services, with full military honors, will follow in Westview Memorial Cemetery. Fuqua Bankston Funeral Home of Ozark is in charge of arrangements. The family will receive friends from 10:00 until 11:00 A.M. Tuesday at the church.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Ridgecrest Baptist Church, 1971 Deese Road, Ozark, Alabama 36360.

Mr. Caudill, son of the late Lewis Frank Caudill and Alta Mae Shaw Caudill, was a native of Bonaparte, Iowa, where he was a 1956 graduate of Bonaparte High School. Following high school, he enlisted in the United States Army. Mr. Caudill lived in various locations in the United States and overseas while serving in the Army, and he retired in 1981 in Fort Hood, Texas. He retired from the United States Postal Service in Erie, Pennsylvania prior to moving to Ozark in 2003. While in Pennsylvania, he was a member of the Christian Missionary Alliance Church, where he served as an Elder. Mr. Caudill was a member of Gideons International, Dale County Camp, in Ozark. He was also a member of Ridgecrest Baptist Church, where he formerly served as a Deacon and led the Prayer Team. Mr. Caudill was preceded in death by a grandson, Brandon Dominguez, a brother, Larry Caudill, and three half-brothers, Clifford, Gerald, and Verlee.

Surviving relatives include his wife of sixty-eight years, Jean King Caudill, Ozark; three daughters, Beverly Hile (Kevin), Ozark, Cheryl Lynn Clinger (Joseph), Texas City, Texas, and Pamela Joyce Jordan (Reggie), Bennett, Colorado; his son, Lester F. Caudill, Jr. (Debra), Richmond, Virginia; grandchildren, Kendra Dodd (Doug), Kevin Hile, II (Sarah Beth), Benjamin Hile (Sara Elizabeth), Jeana Clinger, Roman Clinger, Gloria Ovwigho, Charis Ovwigho, Serena Ovwigho, Garen Ovwigho, Remmie Pittman (Tate), Auri Caudill, and Elijah Caudill; fifteen great-grandchildren.

Serving as active pallbearers will be Kevin Hile, II, Benjamin Hile, Brian Douglas, and Paul Woodham.  The honorary pallbearer will be Bruce Robinson.
