Dan was born May 30, 1942 in Saginaw County Michigan. He grew up on a farm in rural Standish Michigan In 1964 he graduated from Michigan State University with a BA degree in Economics, and began his work career as a civilian Government employee in the computer department of the Tank-Automotive Command in a time that computers were room sized. During that time he served 6 years in the Michigan National Guard. Dan and Ronda Williams were married June 18, 1966 in Grosse Pointe Presbyterian Church in Michigan.
He worked for several companies as a Computer Systems Manager, in Dothan he worked for Flavorhouse Corp, TwitchellCorp, and retired from Construction Partners.
Dan was a member of the Sons of the American Revolution, adevoted member of Triumphant Cross Lutheran Church, and served 36 years in the Coast Guard Auxiliary as Flotilla Commander, achieving the rank of Vice Commander of the 8thCoastal Region. As a Coxswain he often led patrols out of both Eufaula (down the Chattahoochee River), and Panama City. He used his boating and teaching skills to serve the boating public, and as an encouraging mentor to young Sea Scouts.
Dan’s family rests in the knowledge that through his selflessness and desire to live according to God’s will, he has now won God’s smile. Dan will be buried in EvergreenCemetery in Omer MI, with a celebration of Life graveside service at a future date.
