David dedicated forty years of his life to his career as a railroad engineer, retiring from the Chattahoochee Industrial Railroad. He took great pride in his work and was known for his strong work ethic, reliability, and steady presence.

A man of deep and abiding faith, David was a longtime member of Grandview Baptist Church. He served his church family faithfully as chairman of the deacons and as a Sunday school teacher, roles he embraced with humility, wisdom, and a servant’s heart. He found great joy in sharing his faith and investing in the lives of others, leaving a lasting spiritual legacy.

David was a man of many talents and simple pleasures. He enjoyed woodworking, often creating pieces that will be treasured for generations. He found relaxation on the golf course and fulfillment in teaching and helping others learn.

Above all else, David’s greatest joy was his family. He was a loving and devoted husband to his wife, Vivian, for sixty-two years. As a father, he led with strength and compassion, and as a grandfather and great-grandfather, he delighted in every moment spent with his family. He was their biggest supporter, always present, always encouraging, and always proud.

David is preceded in death by his parents, Buford Caraway and Evelyn Caraway Hovey (Louie); his brother, Jimmy Caraway; and his cherished great-grandson, Chapel Sellers.

Survivors include his wife, Vivian; his daughter, Hope Grice (Keith); his son, Keith Caraway (Wendie); his grandchildren, Zachary Grice, Emma Catherine Sellers (Benjamin), Jessica Dietz (Ronald), and Jackson Caraway; and his great-grandchildren, Calder Sellers, Ashlyn Dietz, and McKenzie Dietz; brother Richard Caraway (Gayle); nephew, Matthew Caraway (Katelin); their children Jack and Addy Beth Caraway.

David will be remembered for his steadfast faith, his servant’s heart, and the love he so freely gave. His legacy lives on in the family he cherished, the lives he touched, and the example he set. Though he will be deeply missed, his memory will continue to be a source of comfort, strength, and inspiration to all who knew and loved him.

The Deacons of Grandview Baptist Church and David’s Sunday school class will be honorary pall bearers.
